Official says NY Gov. Spitzer to resign

By MICHAEL GORMLEY, Associated Press Writer 1 minute ago

ALBANY, N.Y. - A top state official says New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer has decided to resign amid a prostitution scandal.
The official tells The Associated Press the resignation would be effective Monday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement had not yet been made.

Allegations surfaced this week that Spitzer was linked to a federal investigation of a call-girl ring and spent thousands of dollars for a night with a prostitute named Kristen at a glitzy Washington hotel.

This is a sad story.

7. Ah, but isn't the incoming NY governor a Hillary supporter?
I don't know the superdelegate guidelines, but I believe that David Paterson, the current Lt. Governor and soon-to-be state governor, supports Senator Clinton

10. I think at that point, it's a sickness. If his wife is pissed off at his hiring hookers
in the first place, can you imagine what she feels about all that's he spent on services rendered? Geeze.

12. They have been married for over 20 years. My gut feeling is that the money was "supposed" to be
"theirs".

From Wikipedia

In 1982, after her second year in law school, Wall was married to Peter Stamos, who was also a student at Harvard Law school. They separated after 29 days of marriage.<2> She married Eliot Spitzer on October 17, 1987 and together they have three daughters: Elyssa (b. December 12, 1989), Sarabeth (b. July 23, 1992), and Jenna (b. May 23, 1994).<3> The three girls attend Horace Mann, the elite private school in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Elyssa is editor of the school newspaper.<4> In a New York Times article<2> she stated that when her husband decided to pursue his political career, she turned her focus more towards the raising of their children, which also allowed her to focus on her work with non-profit organizations.

EXCERPT:

FROM: Who is Roger Stone, Jr.? Repuke Ratf**ker extra-ordinaire.

Who is Roger Stone, Jr.? Buckley, Nixon, Reagan, Bush operative.

"Roger J. Stone, Jr. is a long-time Republican dirty-tricks operative who led the mob that shut down the Miami-Dade County recount and helped make George W. Bush president in 2000. He was also a campaign strategist during the presidential campaigns of Presidents Nixon, Reagan and George Herbert Walker Bush. He is the chairman of the Fort Hill Group, a Washington, D.C.-based public affairs firm...." (From http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Roger_J._Stone,_Jr )

This is another case of illegal and stealth funding. "... During the 2004 presidential primary, Stone served as a behind-the-scenes consultant to black firebrand Al Sharpton's campaign to win the Democratic Party nomination, prompting speculation that Sharpton's campaign was actually a stealth operation to weaken the party's chances of winning in the general election."

Roger Stone, Jr., began his career volunteering for William F. Buckley ............
