Classy resignation speech, anyway.
I'm sure clips will be up soon.
Effective next Monday to allow time for transition.
Too damn bad.
How can a guy be so smart about so many things and so dumb about sex.

13. She looked really down previously too...
I don't feel sorry for him because he was a self righteous, sanctimonious typical prosecutor. As a public defender, let me tell you almost all prosecutors think they do no wrong, but quickly tear others down. But Spitzer's wife and girls have been done a huge disservice by their husband and father; and drug them through it publicly. If he wanted an affair couldn't he have found someone he didn't have to pay ?

15. Welcome to DU! I agree with your post.
Spitzer always came across to me as a SOB.

4. He was dumb about the money for it.

FedEx is what you use for payments for illegal activities, not wire transfers.

I still don't think his wife should have been there with him, but I guess it was her choice.

7. Power and notoriety.
Seen it before. Sometimes the ego runs away with itself, and people think they are above and beyond any accountability.

On the other hand, we do not know the internal dynamics of their marraige. Perhaps this sort of thing was tacitly accepted. Remember: The rich are different from you and me.

11. Frankly, god-like.
It's a heady brew, power, on any scale. I have seen it with little bands that suddenly break huge. All of a sudden they go from wee laddies to This Week's Flavor. I don't think that many people come to that party equipped with the mitigating personality factors necessary to keep things in perspective.

9. Yes, it was a good speech.
I'm sorry that this has happened. It just proves that everyone makes mistakes, and that no matter how big you are, sometimes you get caught.

I just wait for the day of reckoning for George Bush and Dick Cheney.
