Celebrate. Another war-loving politician bites the dust.
I don't really care about the reasons, but let's face it, we really can't afford politicians in any capacity that supported a morally bankrupt war (openly and brazenly) that has done so much harm to this nation, and this planet.

Yes, Spitzer was kicked out for the wrong reasons, but i don't really care.
I'd like to see all the politicians who supported the lies and crimes of the Bush administration political careers washed out on the rocky shores. May all their political lives come to a tragic end.

But they should live on, and remain healthy. We need people to clean toilets and mop floors, and offer us french fries.

9. well, is this quote true or not?
Mr. Spitzer's comments, made during a press conference at his New York City headquarters, represent a stark reversal of his hawkish opinion on the war in 2003, the year of the invasion.

At the time, the then-state attorney general and gubernatorial candidate said removing Saddam Hussein from power was "just and necessary for world peace," and he surprised the Democratic establishment by declaring that Howard Dean, a fellow Democrat, could not win the 2004 presidential election because of his opposition to the war. While Mr. Spitzer has subsequently attacked Mr. Bush's handling of the war effort sharply and asserted in a recent speech that the "intervention in Iraq has failed," he hadn't previously said money spent on the war should be redirected to other national priorities.

11. Here
"In November 2006, during a televised debate against his Republican opponent, John Faso, Mr. Spitzer was asked if he thought the war was a mistake. "Because of the assumption that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, I supported removing Saddam Hussein from power, but, as everyone now knows, we were lied to and I believe the war effort has been drastically mismanaged," he replied, according to an Associated Press transcript.

"Given the opportunity to denounce the war, Mr. Spitzer has so far restricted his criticism to the president's management without saying his initial support for the war was a mistake.

"In a July 2006 debate against his Democratic challenger, Thomas Suozzi, Mr. Spitzer was asked whether Washington should set a timetable for the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. Mr. Spitzer, along with Mr. Suozzi, said he was opposed to a timetable."

14. I favor a quick timetable for all politicians such as spitzer to remove themselves from
public life. of course, that's the people's job... throw the bums out.

17. Admittedly, I didn't know this about Spitzer until I went looking
But I don't live/vote in NY. Believe you me, if I did he wouldn't have gotten my vote for governor. Anyone who isn't out there calling Bush** a liar and war criminal doesn't get a second glance from me. I only wish more voters would take a critical look at who they support. Campaign talk is cheap.

FWIW I believe Spitzer was intentionally targeted. But none of this would have happened if he hadn't gambled in the first place.

12. any of us can support, or oppose (i.e. be rational) in support of any
issue of the day. and i tell you, the opinion of a popular big-state a.g. carries a lot of weight. besides, even if had not publicly supported the war, and only had this private opinion, it shows he was unfit for public office. too stupid for that.

18. But he couldn't vote on the IWR; therefore, his opinion is worthless.
