Want to know what kind of president John McCain would be and whether he will continue the anti-worker policies of the Bush era? Consider this: Today he left the campaign trail and passed up a scheduled fundraiser to get back to Washington, D.C., to vote for an extension of George Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy.

Those are the same tax cuts that have fattened the pockets of the richest families while the rest of us are struggling to make ends meet with stagnant wages and rising prices for necessities like food, gas and health care.

McCain, who voted with President Bush 95 percent of the time in 2007, embraces and praises the Bush administration’s tax policies that have encouraged companies to move jobs offshore and helped the rich get richer while wages for workers are stagnant and inequality is growing. Today, he voted to extend the full roster of Bush tax cuts, while the Democratic candidates, Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, both voted against extending them for the rich.

Pete Wingerter, a member of Bakery, Confectionery Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Local 464 in Hershey, Pa., says “too many American families have lost their jobs” because of McCain’s voting record (see video):

I can only imagine the travesty these people must experience losing their jobs and having responsibilities such as paying a mortgage and educating their children.
