1. IRA? 401K?

How nice it must be to have enough after basic living expenses for such things...

I don't even have freaking health insurance.

2. Well, I don't have much...
but I'm trying to protect what I do have.

Come to think of it, I have not contributed to my IRA in years.

I'm 7% CD's, with the balance divided between stock mutual funds (40%) and bond mutual funds (60%). Of the stock and bond mutual funds, 35% are in dollar assets, and 65% are in non-dollar assets.

10. I'm 50% on rent, 35% on food, 15% on gas & utilities, basically nothing left over.

3. I missed my chance to move it all to bonds a couple of months ago
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 08:56 AM by ThomWV
We have a sizable chunk in US bonds so now I'm just waiting for the next big bailout of a bank to give a one-day market bump - and I'm out of stocks. For our personal savings we moved it all into european stocks a year ago, so we're doing just fine.

4. That's what I'm thinking...
I have gradually gone to about 60% cash over the past few months...next week might be the final move for me to all cash if we get a good day.

6. I just moved the bulk of my 401k into two International funds. Since it is
a 401k, I have to work within the setup of my current company. One of the funds had a sizeable piece in Europe, so that is the closest that I can get to the Euro.

Both funds were large cap, for growth. Over 5 years, did about 20% return. If the US dollar collapses, I'm sure that will drag down everything, but maybe I'll have two quarters to rub together for some coffee before I get in the soup line.

8. I don't care what they're worth until I retire.
The ups and downs between now and then are irrelevant.

9. i have made about 150% in the last 2 years -- foreign funds have been a great play!
the double boon of expanding economies abroad combined with the plummeting USD have made my foreign funds skyrocket.

i'm thinking the party might soon be over though, given the high energy prices and the low USD and the slowdown in consumer spending.

not sure what to do next, it's hard to find anything to be positive about. guess that's why everyone's going overboard on treasuries.
