My Letter to Sen. Mikulski on Don Siegelman

Here is what Gov. Siegelman is writing from prison, it was written on a newspaper clipping. On the news, I hear constantly what Congress is doing to clean up baseball, I would rather hear what Congress is doing to help Gov. Siegelman. I pray that you will listen to his words and understand that what happened him could happen to anyone and will continue until there is accountability. We will have our bank statements scrutinized and trial by press and tv pundits, we will have whisper campaigns and smear campaigns. "Never ask for whom the bell tolls for it tolls for thee"; it tolls for us all until Justice comes back to the USA. It is being held hostage in GITMO, in a secret
prison inside a secret prison, it is sitting in Louisiana in a cell with a man convicted of being a democrat, it is standing in tears next to every American whose private life has been torn open by government officials without cause.

Here is what Don Seigelman wrote on 3/6
"Karl Rove (and others) responsible for perverting our
country's sense of right and wrong-must be held accountable. The US House must hold Rove in contempt, then go to court to enforce the citation. Congress must see the truth, Rove's document's, e-mails and phone records will prove his abuse of power and misuse of the DOJ for political purposes."

If "they" can imprison a former Governor for political reasons only, then no one in America has any rights or freedoms.

4. the problem is it's easier to prevent than correct

look at those poor students in the Duke case, it's harder to prove innocence than
guilt in this current climate.

I don't understand why she has such a lock on her seat. Wish we had a real progressive in there.

6. please, if you are in Maryland, WRITE her

Write, Write, Write, get involved, call, donate, I made a difference here in Baltimore
City with the election judges. The only way to get things done is to push for it.
Never underestimate your power, remember Watergate was uncovered by two junior
newsmen who stumbled around until they built the story step by step. Remember,
Gov. Siegelman is scrubbing floors with a mop in prison because he believes in this country, He is relying on us for help.

7. I have many times

I always get the response thanking me for the email/letter/fax but she disagrees. I've given up on her.
At least Al Wynn lost the primary. I'm hoping that Donna Edwards is more responsive. The times I've met her campaigning I have reason to believe she will be.

8. Donna Edwards won because of folks like us

I like her too and I think we are in for a rough road ahead of us, congress has become
a mish mash of factions that often represent lobbyists not us, I think if the people
become more critical then Congress will listen to proposals for the common good instead of short sighted self interests or what is politically feasible.
