Most markets have kind of a "kill switch" to keep a market from plunging beyond a certain point per hour or day.

Something tells me that they have some sort of mid-day break, where the market closes for an hour or so. Bloomberg isn't saying anything, so I think it's just normal.

Nikkei closes for lunch. this is not unusual for asian markets. several others do the same. i trade nikkei futures on occasion. just something you gotta get used to.
