2. CNBC said they're on a lunch break.
Seriously. That's what they said. Dropping should resume momentarily.

19. My head already hurts
but I was warned yesterday morning to expect this one.

At least it's happening on the watch of many of the men who are responsible for setting up the conditions for it.

Automatic stops may have kicked in.
Most markets have kind of a "kill switch" to keep a market from plunging beyond a certain point per hour or day.

5. I Think Their Market Might Close For A Period
Something tells me that they have some sort of mid-day break, where the market closes for an hour or so.

Bloomberg isn't saying anything, so I think it's just normal.

20. this is correct
Nikkei closes for lunch.

this is not unusual for asian markets. several others do the same.

i trade nikkei futures on occasion. just something you gotta get used to.

17. True! It is an illuminating lesson...
My Profs are sorta morose...it's so ugly. The future MBAs are salivating and the pure Econ majors have furrowed brows. Me, I'm just sitting back and taking it all in, so educational and instructive. :)
