1. My husband is buying silver and gold
so far the investment is doing nicely against the dollar. Stocks? I've never thought much of them.

8. volatile
The only problem is that buying gold is not really a diversified investment. Over the long term, gold prices have been volatile.

2. A couple hundred shares in oilfield services
Some index options (double diagonals on the SPX and DJX), and a few shares of an integrated oil/gas/mining company in Russia.

13. Not sure. I practice dollar cost averaging
and buy consistently regardless of how the market is doing. I'm a long term investor with lots of time for market corrections.

14. I buy stock every day
OK, every month. I have automatic deposit of around $1,000 per month that goes to my broker who buys stock with it. I figure in the long haul, it will keep going up. And with the current recession, maybe I'll get some deals on some stocks! :)

16. Interesting note:
Willingness to buy stock right now seems inversely proportional to the willingness to donate to DU.

18. Always. Although my emerging growth is sucking right now.
All my stocks have gone down a little over 1 percent in the last 6 months, although I am still up about 6 percent if you total all my gains and losses from three years ago to present.

21. I put about $35 in an S&P 500 Index Fund last Friday.
Via my 401k. I'm 35 and in it for the long haul. I really don't know what is going to happen to the market, but I'm betting it'll still be around when I'm old and gray.

It's not really my fault. My dad worked for them for 35 years and I automatically got shares.
