Do You Hear The People Sing?
This has always been a favorite song of mine, from Les
Miserables, and when I heard it again today, the tears started again. This states what so many of us are feeling!

This time around, I think the major thing that stands out to me is the one phrase, When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums.

The drums are beating, but we haven't yet stirred enough hearts!

Do You Hear The People Sing?

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free!

ALL
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Will you give all you can give
So that our banner may advance
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs
Will water the meadows of France!

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

1. That song gets me choked up as well
Saw the original production in London in '86, and it's still one of my favorites.

It is a shame that not enough people are stirred to storm the Bastille...yet. The French were driven to it when they had no bread. What will be our turning point? Perhaps the oil prices.

4. I don't know what it will take... we obviously aren't hurting enough yet!
I've seen the stage production about 5 times, and it gets me everytime.

I haven't seen it in a long time.

I found the dvd for the Hugo movie, and I'm a bit afraid to watch it... the stage production was so moving for me, and I'm not wanting to be disappointed.

BUT.. the main idea is that we need to get more hearts echoing the beating of the drums!!

are the two that echo the following sentiment for me.

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

7. I just finished watching the movie --sans song.
