It's tough and tiresome to be a Democrat. And I'm very tired.

It's tough and tiresome to be a Democrat. And I'm very tired.
Must be one of the biggest differences between Dems and Repukes.
Repukes just have to worry about themselves.
We Dems worry about just about everyone and everything.

This is only my second day back from a great weeks vacation and this has hit me square in the face.
This board has a whole lot of energy, which is good.
But I find that being a Democrat means trying to keep informed, trying to ask the right questions, trying to correct what we believe is wrong, and trying to hold others accountable when we have given them our trust by our vote.

I'm tired of worrying if Bush is really going to leave office or if he's going to attack Iran.
I'm tired of worrying about the last couple of stolen elections and if the next one will be stolen as well.
I'm tired of trying to understand why our elected leaders have let this administration get away with ruining our country.
I'm tired of worrying about this damn housing bust.
I'm tired of worrying about the seemingly unstoppable police state that has begun.

And this list just keeps going on and on.
Being a Repuke must be easier, no worries, just worry about what immediately affects them.

I have read this board almost all day, every day, and I have learned a lot.
No, I'm not taking the easy way out and becoming a repuke.
Yes, I have written my representatives with little satisfaction.
Yes, I am registered to vote.
Yes, I will continue to care.

I just don't think I can continue this life sucking pace.

Please, continue the march.
Never give up, never surrender.

1. Hammer strikes nail on head
Look at the root of the problem- why are our reps not doing their jobs?

Every mess we are in right now was avoidable. Why are our reps allowing it to happen?

3. Take a break
It's almost spring. Go for a walk, check to see which trees are starting to bud, look at your neighbors' yards and try to find crocuses peeking above the snow, listen for the returning birds. Take as much time as you need and return ready to fight those bastards.

One of my breaks lasted five months.

4. I hear ya! And...
"I'm tired of trying to understand why our elected leaders have let this administration get away with ruining our country."

I'd add:

I'm tired of wondering if there will be anything LEFT once all the environmental and consumer protection legislation has been gutted, the civil liberties lost, etc. etc.

5. Heh
Seems like some republicans are worried, too.

Never forget how down right lucky we are to be born in the US. And that with that birth comes a responsibility to keep up with what's happening. IOW, ignorance is bliss. So we have to keep being responsible for the ignorants we share our country, indeed, the whole world with.

It is these days a real ball-buster to see what is occurring. And DU is a great lens through which to view this trainwreck.

In the end, whatever happens, know that you are one who is aware of what transpires and if you deem yourself to be a real functioning member of this society, you will overcome.
