Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 12:55 PM by Angela Shelley
Please participate in this poll by placing your VOTE.

You do not have to leave a message, but a kick would be appreciated.

Thanks :-)

Do you have a valid passport?
and
Have you ever been outside of the USA?

On edit: Please do not answer if you are afraid to let anyone know that you have a passport.

British Honduras (now Belize)..most of the Caribbean islands...including Haiti (which we LOVED)..

It's odd.. neither of us has been to Europe, but our son went to college in Florence, Italy..and has been all over Europe :)

3. Never had a passport, but I've been to Canada
did I miss the option of never had a passport but have been outside the US?

I know now that cruise lines are encouraging passengers to get passports even if their cruise never has ports of call in another nation.

11. Thank you!
In 1958 and 1962 you only needed a birth certificate to get into Canada. My grandmother didn't have one, but got some sort of paper saying she was born before they were required, and that a certain number of witnesses attested to her US citizenship.

27. You still only need a birth certificate to get into Canada...
it's getting back into the US that you need the passport for.

13. I just got a passport a couple of months ago.
I've been through the Yukon Territory on my way to Southeast Alaska, and I've been to a couple of border towns in Mexico, but it used to be a passport wasn't necessary for this. I got a passport now mostly so I can get through Canada on the way to the other part of my state. With the economy like it is, travel to other parts of the world is probably out of the question, at least for now.

19. certainly won't participate in this kind of poll
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 12:35 PM by pitohui
since the scandal revealed that moderators etc. can see exactly who is answering what to the polls i just don't see the point of answering a poll that has no purpose but to get private information on DUers

obvious it is no secret that i have a passport and travel anywhere i can swing a deal or a free ticket but am not seeing any benefit to getting this kind of database on DUers

let agent mike dig, not turn up with a subpoena and have a list in five minutes time of who can and cannot quickly enter/exit the usa

i already get searched often enough at the border, can't understand why anyone would want to add themselves to the list

Sorry to have asked this question, putting you in a difficult situation.

Agent Mike didn´t mention anything to me while having dinner at my place last week. :-)

36. I must say I went through the same thought process myself.
Am reluctant to give out too much info since it has been shown admin can and has looked at who votes how on some polls. However, since the gvt issued me my passport, and I have talked about traveling out of USA, I decided this poll wasn't an issue.

33. Renewing my passport
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 02:16 PM by supernova
is on my to do list this year.

I don't have any definite plans yet, but I love to travel and it's been a long time. So, I want to get myself ready.

I've considered working overseas too, and you never know when that opportunity could arise.

edit: I've been to central Europe: Germany, Austria, The Czech Republic, Hungary.

I don't care who knows that I have one: I DON'T have a driver's license, as it happens, so I use my passport for ID in bars.
