Arthur C. Clarke Dies at Age of 90
Science fiction writer, inventor and futurist Arthur C. Clarke has died, leaving fans bereft at the loss of his brilliance and creativity.

Clarke died early Wednesday after suffering from breathing problems, the Associated Press reported. He was 90 years old. He suffered from post-polio syndrome and was confined to a wheelchair toward the end of his life.

Clarke wrote more than 100 sci-fi books, including "2001: A Space Odyssey." He is credited with coming up with the idea for the communications satellite and predicting space travel before rockets were even test fired.

I could have sworn...well I enjoyed Isaac Azimov equally well. Along with: Sturgeon, Norse, Heinlien, Tolkien and Norton back then. I discovered Kurt Vonnegut Jr. in my early twenties and eventually stopped reading books in my mid thirties. I have only recently gotten back to reading in my early fiftys and those books are all progressive political. (Tom Hartmann, Naiomi Wolf, David Cay Johnston) Thanks again for pointing that out....

6. "One by one, without any fuss, the stars were going out..."
That line now has a double meaning.

Thank you, Sir Arthur, for a full lifetime, well-lived :patriot:
