Weather: What's going on in the South and South East
USA?

http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/

We also have coastal flood warnings in the Eastern Caribbean as a result of storms and strong winds in the Atlantic. The Atlantic does look very strange. They are telling people on the Atlantic coast to avoid swimming in the sea for the next 48 hours. I've never heard such a warning before outside of a hurricane.

Weather experts weigh in please.

2. Here in Western NC we had a soaking rain all day.
We didn't get the thunderstorms, wind and flooding that the storm brought across the Mid-West.

Just a wet, rainy day. It got warm as the storm passed though. It's clear now.

Don't know what's up in the Atlantic, though.

4. Just heard that waves will be between 11 and 18 ft as a result
of a low pressure system in the northern atlantic - WTF?

Stay out of the sea this weekend - rip currents.

13. East coast surfers pray for
north atlantic lows.
Really kicks it up some.Very similar to how north Pacific storms kick up the surf in Hawaii. The high winds push the water up into bigger waves.Only not as big do to the differance in the undersea topography along the east coast.

3. Very windy here for a couple of days at least in the Palm Beach area.
The golfers getting ready for their tournament in the Miami area had to stop practice because of the high winds... Not good for practice sessions, throws the swing off.

7. Yes indeed, Tiger only played 11 holes and then explained that it
can really throw your swing off. Phil went 700 miles north for his practice session. Hope he does better this weekend..

11. Leap tide
That is what we called it when I was a kid growing up on the Moon River near Savannah Georgia..Have no idea what the 'official' name for the phenomenom might be.
Twice a year around the fall and spring equinox's the tide would always come up a couple of feet higher then normal for a few days..
If their was a nor'easter blowing it would come up even higher.
If their was a full moon even higher still.

It is a regular thing.Sometimes conditions fall into place that make it newsworthy.

17. South Carolina. It was extremely windy here today, and it's ...
.. been raining a lot. That's actually good, because we've been in a bad drought. I think mother Earth is a bit riled at us all.
