Anyway, one of them said that "According to the constitution, defense is what we are all about, and so the government should not be bailing out the states or the people losing their homes."

For her, here is the Preamble to the Constitution

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

What is the Government's purpose?

1. makes for a united people, United States
2. establishes Justice
3. insures domestic tranquility
4. provide for the common defense
5. promoting the general Welfare
6. secures the Blessings of Liberty

Looks like six things there, and promoting the general Welfare is one of them.

They ought to limit their panel to four (two on the left and two on the right, or six if you want two in the middle) so that stupid things are not just said without rebuttal.

2. I'm not encouraging people to watch it

it's frustrating to me that some people are so stupid and yet so willing to broadcast their ignorance to a national audience. At least on a message board their opinions would be challenged and they'd have to defend them.
