patrol cars?! OMG.... :puke:

Fucking disgusting that was...

For clarification, chasing people who are on foot with patrol cars, over lawns, curbs, etc. And from what I saw, all of the people being chased were young black men.

Justice Dept investigating...

"Yeah, I hit him. I was trying to hit him," Garren, who is white, can be heard telling another trooper.

In the other, Lance Cpl. Alexander Richardson drives between apartment buildings, on sidewalks and past onlookers in an attempt to run down a suspect. After about a minute, Richardson's car bumps the man, who grabs the vehicle in an attempt to steady himself. The man doesn't fall and takes off running again.

1. Too lazy to run...
after the suspects, and a sense of being above the law.

2. No, this was really egregious...driving between apt buildings, a parent
having to pull their child out of the way before they got run down. I'm just...disgusted. Not surprised, but disgusted.

3. I saw that this morning
I was shocked to hear that one officer was only put on administrative leave for that. How is that possible? I saw one man flying up in the air when he was hit by the police car. It looked like attempted murder to me-someone could have been killed.

6. Somebody please dial us in
Is this a long term problem or something that happened recently and the cops were chasing down suspects in a single crime?

In what community in South Carolina is this happening?

A detail would be nice.

23. Oh, how very cute! What kind of dogs? They don't mind dressing up? LOL.
My little guy has already eaten two harnesses, which he wears instead of a collar, and is working on a third...*sigh*

I should send this thread to my friend who's near Florence, since she has three dogs, but she lives way outside of town...

Those are Jake and Elwood...the Bouv Brothers.

(The dress-up, btw, is photoshop. They'd never stand for that kind of nonsense)

33. Beautiful dogs, and very unusual, as well...
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 04:40 PM by Rhiannon12866
My friend had a Bouvier, while we were growing up, and I've never seen another one. They are wonderful dogs. :-)

And I wondered about the outfits, LOL, since my guys wouldn't put up with dressing up, either...x(

The dogs in my sig are actually mine, Brussels Griffons, also unusual (I've only seen one other in real life), quite small, and, unbelievably, both rescue.O8)

The only thing photoshopped about mine are the faces that they're making. Meneken is the one who's winking and sticking his tongue out and Jack is the blinker...:D

Thanks for sharing your pix!:loveya:

9. For those of us who live in SC
we are not surprised.

I don't know about Columbia but North Charleston police personnel are paid about the same as convenience store clerks. There's no real incentive to get anything but the bottom of the barrel to stay. The good cops, the ones who really want to make a difference, who care, who believe they are there to protect and serve, can't afford it for long.

12. Now if the situation was reversed the police would have
shot and killed the person driving in that manner. It has happened a few times in the recent past up here.

21. K&R. I saw that too! Appalling!
There have been investigations into the wisdom of high speed chases, since they are so dangerous for bystanders. This is so much worse, since they don't even stay on the roads!:scared:

30. I saw that this morning myself and almost choked --
Unfuckingbelieveable -- truly. And when I saw them head into what was clearly a residential area and the gentleman and child were jumping out of the way, my first thought was, "Of course it is a black area they are tearing their fucking car through - they would have never dared to if it wasn't."

I have seen many police chases -- on foot and in cars -- over the years in my neighborhood and when a suspect starts heading through yards or into the park down the street the damn cops don't follow, they create a "box" of vehicles around the area with additional units and intercept the person being chased.

to hit the suspect with a car (I mean, WTF?!?!?!) but when they went offroad and into a housing unit -- the chances were pretty damned good there would be families with children there -- what type of jackass would even think about taking such a chance????
