I got a Rep so mad about his own words!!!

This happened yesterday. A conservative Rep I know at work was talking about trailer trash and the cost to us tax payers when they have baby after baby on welfare. He was going on about how we can't support all these burdens to tax payers. Isn't there a way to stop all this? I said "but you said two weeks ago your against abortion because ALL babies are ALL gods babies and very special". You seem to have changed your mind in just two weeks time. Good for you". He went into a rage and left the lunch room. He knew I had him. Everybody else had a good laugh.

4. Exemplary!!! VERY good job!
We should ALL be confronting these assholes and shoving their idiotic or hateful words straight back down their miserable throats. Preferably in public while plenty of other people are looking.

5. My mother was on the Alabama Board of Pensions and Securities.
She was a stock broker.
And this was back in the 50s.

She worked in John Patterson's successful campaign for governor of Alabama.
He appointed her. It didn't pay anything besides her expenses to travel from Birmingham to Montgomery for meetings, but probably helped in her business.

It was a six year term, so she was still serving when George Wallace won the next election. He wanted to cut welfare payments to 'these colored women havin' all these babies'.

My mother's position was that the babies didn't ask to be born. That was the result of the actions of others.

"We are not going to abandon these babies and throw them in a ditch to starve to death and die. It's not their fault they're here. If you can figure out a way so that the mamas quit having the babies, fine. But don't hurt the babies."

What a lady she was.

12. Thanks. She was somethin'.
Divorced when I was 4 (1945), single mom, then secretarial/business school, secretary, secretary, more of an admin. assistant, insurance license, insurance sales, broker's license, broker.

President of Business and Professional Women's club.
Played the piano (ANYTHING, by ear! Hum it and she could play it.) and terrific singer.
Theatrical costume designer and good sketch artist.
Made some of her clothes and some of mine.
And I was not ashamed to wear them.
They were that good.

Died way too early at age 50. Breast cancer.
If she'd had today's medical care she might still be with us.
She's be in her early 90s.
Never met her future daughter-in-law, granddaughter, great grandson or great granddaughter.
Damn.
:-(

16. Thank you.
She had quite a struggle.
To be divorced in the south at that time was to be branded as a 'scarlet woman'. Her parents (granny and grampa) were shamed and outraged.
She did the best she could, which turned out to be pretty damned good.

As I learned years later, the divorce was a result of my father's infidelity with a civilian woman who worked for him.
He was a major in the army and in charge of graves registration in the Pacific during WW II.
I would guess that was a shitty job.
Responsible for 'identifying 'remains'.
Must've sucked.

He was there for a long time.
As they say, 'shit happens'.

I never saw him after the divorce.
And what the hell.
I turned out pretty much OK.
Married for 39 years and counting.
A daughter (and son-in-law) that I dearly love.
And two delightful grandchildren.

Tell me about the blight of single parent families.
Screw that.
I'm a happy man.
:-)

8. I can't believe you were having such a politically charged
discussion at work. They really frown upon that at my place of business. So I never get to take on any of these fools. I do take them on outside of work though.

18. I'm a union steward (fired twice, reinstated by action twice in my lifetime)

I'd love for anyone to tell my group to pick and choose our subjects. :-) The Rep I'm talking about is a non member (scab) that won't join, but takes the higher negotiated pay and benefits.

9. Good work
I love it when somebody rubs their noses in their doublethink on that subject, especially, and blows all their circuits at once.

He's probably going to nurse a grudge against you for the rest of your life, but I'll bet he'll learn to be less of a blowhard and stop quoting hate radio unless he's with other Limbeciles.
