Why would DU allow a conservative republican to advertise?

His ad was emblazened on one of the threads I read without any R's by his name asking me to donate.

Isn't DU a place we can come to get away from republicans? It is bad enough that there is progressive advertising with GW's smirky mug disrupting my quality reading experience. Really, it's like being at a strip club with abstinence posters everywhere.
