I'm listening to BBC talking about Pelosi and the Dalai Lama...
and it's a very positive spin of their meeting. China is getting the word that their actions in Tibet are not appreciated.

Earlier, the Diane Riehm show on NPR had a panel talking about Tibet, and it just might be worse than we think. The Tibetan Communist Party leader continually rails on about the evils of Buddhism and pretty much all traditional Tibetan culture-- it looks like Beijing is seriously attempting to destroy all things Tibetan. And, ABC, which had been promised free access to all of China, has already been arbitrarily refused access to areas with no explanation. Not even a simple one, like it's a secure area.

A week or so ago Haile Gebrselassie, the current Marathon record holder, said he won't compete this year because he's afraid the Beijing air pollution will affect his health. Perhaps we will see more of this, and perhaps we might see some outright boycotting of Beijing.
