Breaking: Murray and Dodd call for Jackson to resign from HUD
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 11:58 AM by RGBolen
Two Senate Democrats call for HUD secretary to resign in wake of accusations

Two Senate Democrats called today for HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson to resign amid "allegations of cronyism and favoritism," according to the Associated Press.

"It is time for Secretary Jackson to go," Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., tells the wire service.

Sen. Chris Dodd, chairman of the Banking Committee, joined his colleague in calling for Johnson to leave office.

"I do not believe Secretary Jackson is capable of effectively carrying out his responsibilities and the responsibilities of the Department of Housing and Urban Development," Dodd says in a statement. "Now, more than ever, we need a HUD secretary who can devote his full energy to solving our nation's housing crisis."
