Researchers: High Gas Prices Save Lives

Researchers: High Gas Prices Save Lives
DAVIS (CBS13) ―
A bold new study suggests higher gas prices are a good thing when it comes to saving lives.

UC Davis researchers say the skyrocketing prices may lead to significant reductions in vehicle related deaths because people are driving less.

The study also suggests that less demand for gas will also lead to a reduction in air pollution.

"There is less air pollution due to gasoline," said UC Davis Health Economics Professor Dr. Paul Leigh, "and less air pollution also translates into fewer deaths due to air pollution from pulmonary disease as well as heart disease and things of that nature."

2. The next time someone says that a gasoline boycott, two days a week, or whatever,
explain to them that demand is off over 10% and prices are still rising.

3. Demand isn't off 10%
So why should we try to explain that to them?

If you have a reliable source that shows a 10% reduction in demand please cite it.

5. So when gas costs $50/gal, no one will die from driving because no one will be driving. We'll all
just starve instead.
