Giant Marine Life Found in Antarctica

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - Scientists who conducted the most comprehensive survey to date of New Zealand's Antarctic waters were surprised by the size of some specimens found, including jellyfish with 12-foot tentacles and 2-foot-wide starfish.

A 2,000-mile journey through the Ross Sea that ended Thursday has also potentially turned up several new species, including as many as eight new mollusks.

It's "exciting when you come across a new species," said Chris Jones, a fisheries scientist at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. "All the fish people go nuts about that - but you have to take it with a grain of salt."

The finds must still be reviewed by experts to determine if they are in fact new, said Stu Hanchet, a fisheries scientist at New Zealand's National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research. But beyond the discovery of new species, scientists said the survey, the most comprehensive to date in the Ross Sea, turned up other surprises.

1. "Thursday has also potentially turned up several new species" That's Impossible!

As any Bigfoot skeptic will tell you. There is no way any creature on this planet can avoid detection. Even though bigfoot doesn't do as good of job of avoiding detection as these critters did. Nobody had ever seen one of these until today. Bigfoot fails to avoid detection with every sighting. So how can we be certain these new species are even real and the product of over active imaginations? Those bigfoot skeptics have some splanin' to do.

Btw, bigfoot is real. I saw one outside of Ft. Jackson durring the 4th of July. I was back in the woods taking a leak and bigfoot was in the woods watching the fireworks. When he saw that I had seen him. He took off.

That bigfoot may not have taken off just because you saw him. Was he looking at his watch? (They're usually wearing a watch.) He might have been late for the bigfoot 4th of July party.

5. Well this the perfect time to rub the Skeptics noses in the facts of Cryptozoology.

As for Bigfoot. I've seen drawings of a giant ape that is believed to be extinct. I forget the latin name for the creature. But it means "Giant Ape." That's exactly what the bigfoot I saw looked like. Except for one thing. The nose. Bigfoots nose is closer to a humans nose than an apes. If you put a human nose on that Giant Ape. That's Bigfoot.

It's no Bigfoot. But this discovery is exciting too.
