Am I being just a bit too sensitive?
I was watching the News Hour yesterday when David Brookes was asked his opinion about the Iraq war lasting 5 years. He laughed before giving his opinion. I couldn't help but imagine how anybody who had lost a loved one because of that war would have felt with such a response. I know he was all for the invasion in the first place, but to laugh about it now, is beyond me.

And the war is kept out of sight and out of mind so that only crazy people like war protesters and those of us who post on DU still remember that there is a war that is killing thousands of innocent people in Iraq and stirring up more terrorism than there ever would have been if we had not invaded that country.

We could have taken Saddam Hussein out with Special Ops forces without killing civilians if that was the real reason for going in. The real reason was OIL.

Edit: Welcome to Democratic Underground. Its good to get an International Perspective. During the Vietnam war they showed a lot of terrible things on television and the public was very upset about the war. Now nothing is shown on television so people can practically forget the war is going on. The medical care is so much closer to the field that the death toll is much lower but the number coming back with terrible injuries and post traumatic stress disorder is quite high.

4. Thank you for your welcome
This may sound a bit controversial, but Sadam Hussein was doing a better job of keeping the country under control with its warring religious sects and tribes than what the coalition of the "killing" is doing now.

As for Vietnam, the government learnt a valuable lesson there. They now control better what we see by embedding the journalists. We don't see blood anymore. We are not even allowed to see the coffins returning. And if a citizen is killed its called "collateral damage". How sterile.

3. No. You're being a caring, compassionate human being.
I hope none of those families or loved ones saw it.

the talking points have emoticons :7 .. it is a hard science, controlling mass opinion involves psychologically designed Media Theater. it is complex, only obvious to evolved minds.. thus all the hatred about evolution.

glad you made it..:grouphug:
