McCain: "I LEARNED from Keating 5 case," compares it to his POW years
WASHINGTON - Sen. John McCain's ethics entanglement with a wealthy banker ultimately convicted of swindling investors was such a disturbing, formative experience in his political career that he compares the scandal in some ways to the five years he was tortured as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

"I faced in Vietnam, at times, very real threats to life and limb," McCain told The Associated Press. "But while my sense of honor was tested in prison, it was not questioned. During the Keating inquiry, it was, and I regretted that very much."

In his early days as a freshman senator, McCain was known for accepting contributions from Charles Keating Jr., flying to the banker's home in the Bahamas on company planes and taking up Keating's cause with U.S. financial regulators as they investigated him.

1. One Can Only Wonder What Lessons He Would Learn If He
became President. And what price we would pay for his lessons?

2. He uses this Keating Five thing as a shield against further accusations
of shady dealings--he keeps saying "See? I learned my lesson, you can trust me now", but in fact he is in bed with lobbyists, and used his position as Commerce Cmte. chair to pull strings with the FCC. He's a manipulative, corrupt creep.

3. What a crock of shit
I'm sorry, but I don't believe being a POW and a corrupt politician makes him qualified to be President of the United States

5. I learned ethics and fair play at my Mother's knee. . .
and the lessons learned as a child formed and still influence my every adult hour. Lessons learned today only reaffirm beliefs instilled from birth. Unlike McCain, my concern is never to guard my sense of honor from being impugned; I always endeavor to do the right thing, damn what others may think.
