Notice all the cheesy little ways the government is borrowing
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 09:59 PM by rzemanfl
money without admitting it? Those "forever stamps" are like a payday loan for the postal service. Every "state" quarter squirreled away for the grandkids is 25 cents out of circulation, every Presidental dollar coin kept out of circulation is the same. I wouldn't be surprised if they left "In God We Trust" off of those dollar coins knowing the fundies would have a shitfit and they could come out with a second coin, doubling the amount that will be taken out of circulation. This government is just something to be ashamed of...

On edit, the fundies are having a shitfit because "In God We Trust" is on the edge of the coin, my bad.

4. I didn't read beyond the headline, it is on the edge of the dollar
coins. Corrected my post, thanks for pointing this out.

12. I was checking the news at work, I don't remember where I saw
this, since I give less than a flying fig what religious fundies do or think I didn't read far enough into the article to see that the statement about "god" had been moved to the edge of the coins. The headline was something like "Fundamentalists to boycott coins over 'Under God.'"

7. I disagree
The forever stamps are a good investment for anyone who wants to protect the price of postage. The USPS is supposed to be a self supporting entity and is just expected to raise the revenue to meet their operating costs. They are not allowed to make a profit. Some people would look at this as a savings for their future postal needs.

Now, I don't know about the quarters, that may be, but it is a novelty for some.

Now, as for the new dollar coins not listing that phrase, I know that I read something recently about it being on them- but on the edge, as opposed to the face of the coin. I tried to look for it, but could not find it.

These rants all sound a wee bit like something a right wing talk show host would state.

8. Do you disagree that the "forever stamp" will give the postal
service an extra shot of revenue now as people buy stamps for future use? Ultimately they will have to carry the mail with those stamps at whatever their costs are then.

Excuse my rant, I am just pissed off about anything and everything these days.

10. no, of course not rzemanfl!
sure, it would be good for us- short term, anyway. I don't know if it is wise for long term plans, as we are not allowed to make a profit, so perhaps they would be able to keep some of the funds in a future business fund.

I apologize, but I am a postal employee, so I get a little defensive.

And believe me, I understand about so many upsetting things nowadays.

Geez- you would think having Democrats take over, that we would have things back to where we were. I think that so many of our Democrats play 'too nice' or are too concerned with the next round of elections.
