Notrious rethug "political hit man" tipped FBI off on Spitzer
-snip-

Now the Miami Herald reports that almost four months before Spitzer was caught, a lawyer for Stone sent a letter to the FBI alleging that Spitzer ''used the services of high-priced call girls' while in Florida."

The letter said Stone learned the information from '"a social contact in an adult-themed club." It offered one potentially identifying detail: The man in question hadn't taken off his calf-length black socks "during the sex act."

3. Goddamnit
this is really goddamn annoying

we're busy here fighting over scraps and the republicans have taken out the governor of new york, they're keeping the former governor of alabama as a political prisoner, and they just keep rolling along like nothings happening.

this is fucking frustrating, we should be fighting the enemy and taking them down. taking down guys like roger stone, like sean hannity, destroying their credibility before an election cycle and putting them on the front page with the headline "SCANDAL!" instead of it being us.

ugh.

4. Um.....I think Spitzer still paid prostitutes.....
I'm concerned with how Spitzer was caught, but the sad fact remains, HE is the one who was caught paying prostitutes and acting in a hypocritical manner. No one snuck in his room, hid a prostitute and then threw on the lights and yelled "A HA!"

5. Exactly!
If he had kept his peeter in his pants, he would still be governor.

6. Could you focus on the ball?
I understand you don't like hypocrites and think Spitzer was an idiot and jerk, but the fact that our government targeted him because of political reasons and used tools legislated to them to fight terrorists against him is a much bigger affront and concern.

11. So, that makes it okay for the government to abuse their power?
No outrage for the government abuse, but lots of outrage for the guy who was a hypocrite. Wow, glad you have your priorities set right.

8. Well....
As the other poster pointed out....if he had kept it in the correct place, then...well, you get the idea.

But here is the thing - yes, it is a rotten process how political operatives appeared to have tipped off others and possibly a tool developed for one thing was used for another.

Still, he is the type of politician none of us need - he is no different than Larry Craig, Vitter or any other right wing hypocrite that acts one way in private while acting different in public while going after those they are acting just like.

I feel no sympathy or pity toward Spitzer. What angers me the most is that people like him only reinforce that truly good, exceptional people just may not exist in politics or public service.

12. Yet, no outrage for the government abuse of power.
I don't need the government targeting moral hypocrites because of their political affiliation or because they came down on unscrupulous wall street types. So, you're okay with the government using its surveillance powers to spy on politicians and, maybe, blackmail them to toe the line or else expose them publicly if they don't? Can I just call you J. Edgar.

13. No, but you can start by apologizing...
Wow...a debate starts and then not too long after so does the name calling.

Grow up.

14. You aren't even a little outraged about the abuse of government power?
Your position is that it's ok for the government to use the full weight of its power, to include laws passed to combat terrorism, to take down a moral hypocrite because he was a nuisance for the business elite and caused them problems.

I am not debating whether he deserved to be governor or a Democrat. It's irrelevant, my position is that sexual moral hypocrisy is less of an evil than government abuse of power and we should not allow government to use its power to target any individual in retaliation or because they oppose the administration in some way.

And you want me to apologize for wanting to call you J. Edgar? Get real.

Side note: Why would you be offended that I want to refer to you as J. Edgar anyway? Why is that an insult, apparently, how he used the FBI is fine with you. You should take it as a compliment.

15. I will be outraged when the full story comes out, if it does...until that...
time, grow the fuck up.

If you want to play idiotic games of calling other Du'ers names to make a point, you get real.

I get so sick and tired of people like you who resort to this juvenile crap to either win an argument or end one by childish crap.

So, if you have some site or link that shows Spitzer was taken down by what you claim he was, then pass it on.

10. I think it escapes them
that harriet miers and josh bolton are still running free and the "just us" department is refusing to investigate anything even relating to the evil administration

but they'll dig out all the tools the patriot act and homeland security have to offer to throw the book at a democrat.
