Are Lobbyists and "key campaign fund raisers" allowed to be "Super - Delegates"???

What are the rules for who can be a so-called "Super-delegate"??? :shrug:

1. Superdelegates are usually elected Dems, party officials, and formers of both.

Beyond the obvious, who is a superdelegate gets decided by the national party. For instance, former Senate Majority Leader Daschle is a superdelegate, because of his history of work for the party.

2. But do you think a DNC member who is a Lobbyist and "key campaign fund raiser" for...

...one of the Presidential candidates, and is also a "super-delegate" who is pledged to that candidate that they are lobbying and working for, do you think that would be a problem for that candidate?

3. I don't believe DNC officials are allowed to also be lobbyists.

The only way I know of that a lobbyist could be a superdelegate is if they were a former elected Dem or party bigwig, like say Daschle, working as a lobbyist, who was given super status for their work with the party.

Still, I suspect the state parties (who select the non-elected supers) would be fairly careful not to bestow superdelegate status on anybody who would present a PR problem for any of our candidates. Of course, I don't know for sure.

This guy is definitely one of Obama's California "super-delegates" and is listed right on his Obama'08 website as "a key fund-raiser" and it sounds like he's a lobbyist also.
