I have XM - so what will the merger with Sirius
do to or for me?????

Did I just waste some money getting it installed in my "new" car??

Which has the most choices for progressive talk?

The XM Air America sucks until Randi gets on and even her subs like Seder are better than she. I liked Franken, even if many here did not.

I do like XM Potus (#130) until they go to the Heritage Foundation or some other nonsense, but overall, a good channel.

When will changes take place - have not found any detailed description yet.

2. They still need FCC approval first. From what I've heard on the air, they mentioned that you'd be
able to do an ala carte style program where you'd get what you'd like from both XM and Sirius. It sounded like you wouldn't need new equipment, you'd get the programming over your existing radio. This is my unqualified take on it so far.

3. It means that since you will now have both, you will have to pay double.

10. Thanks to all - will investigate further
hope I don't have to change any installation due to this.

I am in a conservative area - depend on satellite for righteous talk, opted for XM very early on.

7. Months ago......an a la carte system was proposed
Supposedly, you get to pick 50 channels from either company you want for the price of 12.95 or so.

8.  Will it drive up prices due to lack of competition? (I have XM, so I do care about this)

9. Nope

The plan is to lower prices, while giving you more choice of what you want.

This is great news for consumers of both XM and Sirius(which I have).

12. Get rid of overlap
They will probably have just one 60s station, one classic rock station, etc. Maybe more variety on the news (though both have Fox and CNN). Maybe more talk shows.

13. Are they coming out with new radios?
Or do you just need a new one of you get something from the "other" side of what you have? Will you have to pay for new equipment?

14. I bought XM for Air America and now I'm seriously thinking drop...
I agree with you. No Thom Hartman until late evening and that is not the whole show. Randi has just gotten horrendous with her ego, I can't imagine who can stand the blow hole Ed Schultz and like you, I only listen to Randi, now, when Sam is on. God, the weekend line up, outside of Ring of Fire with Bobby and Pap is just horrendous--all these specialty sports shows or other limited audience shows. Not a damned thing on, anymore except Rachel Maddow and I end up missing her often because of scheduling. And, Lionel? Don't get me started...

I am so damned disappointed. What on earth I would get from Sirius, I can't imagine--double the crap I don't want to listen to, anyway...
