Lou Dobbs and Chris Mathews
what is DU members opinion on both of them? I know I sometimes hate christ mathews, especially after I saw his interview with John Edward's wife. He was less than a gentleman to her. Lou Dobbs i personally think he hates all immigrants. what's the deal with him?

Enlighten me with your expertise. :hippie:

1. I actually like Matthews, and think Dobbs is simply dull.
Dobbs wife is hispanic. He's also a Republican (based upon his history of political donations) contrary to his "I'm an independent" claims.

Matthews likes Elizabeth Edwards but he was playing "hawdbaw" with her.

Not sure you'll get much response, but I wanted to as I suggested you ask in a thread of your own.

7. Matthews loves politics and he's old school. He irritates
some people here but I like to listen to him. Somethings I agree on and some not. Lou used to be sane but he fell off the curve of the earth with his immigrant rants. However, his rants on the failing of the middle class are classic. Mixed bag. I watch both, Matthews the most. I edit what I watch with Lou. He's harder to take. I am used to old school political junkies like matthews. He reminds me of my uncles.

13. I agree with your take. I used to enjoy Dobbs for the reason you note -
the fleecing of the middle class etc... I don't mind hearing a different perspective on things either, as long as I can understand the thought process and it's not presented in O'Reilly-esque fashion.

2. I have mixed opinions on both of them. I've watched Matthews
when he was GREAT, although it's been quite a while. I've also watched Dobbs and I agree with him on a lot of things, but he can be a real AH sometimes too.

3. Dobbs doesn't HATE immigrants, and he has repeatably stated this. He is against people of any
origin who enter the country illegally, and not going through the proper process to obtain entry, get a green card, or overstay their visa. He blames the government for being lax in these matters.

6. I am sick and tired of all of them~ they are defining
the debate in America.

They do not allow anyone other than Keith to have a Progressive voice.

24/7 it is Dobbs, Matthews, Morning Joe for 3 damn hours every day with Pat Pukecannan,Andrea Mitchell(Washington Insider and married to $$$ man)and all of the friends that they select.

Pukecannon is the real Captain! They all listen to what ever he has to say ~ he is lost in the 60's and a bigot, IMO.

Wolfie is a shill but I love Jack Cafferty, he calls them like he sees them.

They try to make people think they are being "Fair" but that is a lie.

An excellent choice would be the smart lady from Air America, she is allowed on MSNBC when they need a "Democratic" voice but they control how much she is able to say. She is one classy lady and I believe they said she graduated from Harvard.

Roland Martin on CNN is good to add a touch of color, his voice is strong and he doesn't let them throw him. But, they will cut him off in mid sentence if he really starts laying it on the line.

It amazes me that they have an African American running for President and all day and all night White People are letting us know how the Black Community should feel about issues and how we will vote.

What Hispanic is ever on Dobbs and is allowed to truly speak up? None!
One Hispanic lady was on with Dobbs once and she really let him have it. He turned red as a beet ~ he was steamed. She has not been invited back ~ I think she was from the ACLU.!

Sometimes they get extra slick. They will have four guests - 2 White and two African Americans. However, the African Americans are Republican so they are not speaking from our needs,but-- when America sees them on, they assume that CNN/MSNBC incorporated various points of view.

As far as Women are concerned ~ who has a voice? NONE other than Katie and she speaks for nothing but her latest hair style.

Morning Joe has Meika as his side kick and he tells her to shut up. She is a smart lady. Much smarter than he is ~ by the way, what happened to that intern?

So ~ what we have 24/7 is White Men telling us what to think and how to vote.

As a AAmerican, a woman, a Democrat and a true American, I want to throw my shoe at all of them.

Now, I don't watch TV, I listen to Air America all day long and keep it on at night too. I rest so much better.

8. What gets to me...
is that somehow they get to define the debate;
the ponder 'talking points' from one another
rather than from the issues, the candidates
and the American people.

It's almost masturbatory...and yet they get
paid to do it.

And sadly much of the debate around Sen. OBama
is dictated by the white experiences. It makes me
weep that so called 'educated' and 'experienced'
commentators have absolutely no clue as to the
African American experience, perspective and
voice. This REv. Wright volcano of white fear
and prejudice simply reveals how divided this
country is.

10. You are so right ~ their commentary is not Inclusive
it is Exclusive, like a Country Club.

They are not speaking for the America of today, they are speaking for their America of yesterday,

WE should be about inspiring the next generation to see the world through a lens of Brotherhood.

14. I think that Rachel Maddow is the lady from Air America you mentioned.
I think that she's great, and I hope that one day she'll get her own TV show.

9. I don't watch the Dobbs but do watch
Matthews and since he 'selectively reports', I 'selectively' listen by pushing the mute button when I deem appropriate.
