Any chance we could resume making the war a priority?
When Cheney let that "So?" flip off his lips the other day, I wanted to throw a boot through my television. As the fifth anniversary of Bush`s invasion came and went and the number of American soldier deaths hit 4,000,Cheney reminded us all that these soldeirs are "volunteers." In other words, they signed up. Asked for it. If I may ask, where are the voices of opposition to Cheney`s inexcusable insolence? Perhaps they decided to not speak out after Cheney opined that Bush was the Country`s Chief Sacrificer. Why? because Junior was the one who had to decide to send these soldiers to war. Boo frigging hoo, George. I feel badly for you and the mountain bike you rode in on.

I realize we`ve gotten caught up in raucous discussions about Judas, Reverand Wright, Bosnia, flag pins and more, but what are we ignoring in order to perpetuate this no-win circus? Iraq, for starters. http://icasualties.org/oif/

As I type this, somewhere in the United States is a little boy feeling immense sadness because his Daddy came home from Iraq in a coffin. Somewhere in Iraq is a child suffering the loss of his arm and his mother. There`s an Iraqi soldier somewhere with third degree burns and an American soldier somewhere with no legs. Ther is blood and body parts and ruined lives and razed homes. There are displaced grandmothers and frightened children, weeping men and sorrowful daughters. This is the despair from war, a far cry from the chest-beating "we`re winning" scenarios chickenhawks brag about.

The occupation of Iraq must be forced front and center. Somehow we must unite and begin an all-out assault on those who willfully distort the truth. We aren`t winning and we aren`t safer.
