1. Kevin, I am glad to hear that...
someone else here was watching it. I came here a couple of weeks ago to find someone to talk to about it and I could not find any discussion about it anywhere. I am sorry that it has been canceled. I thought it was just getting good.

2. Yes, very good show. One of the few intelligent, thought provoking shows on TV.
Too bad CBS got spooked and will now replace it with more mindless reality garbage or carbon-copy crime shows. It's obvious they don't include intelligence in their primary demographic.

Jericho Seeks A New Home

Carol Barbee, executive producer of CBS' canceled post-apocalyptic series Jericho, told SCI FI Wire that talks are ongoing to find the show another home, perhaps on a cable network.

"I can't really say about specifics, and, ... partially, it's because I'm not the one having those conversations," Barbee said in an interview on March 24, the eve of the show's final episode. " Paramount has been pursing it, and our agents have been into that, so, you know, I am pushing those people and coming up with ideas to have those people pursue."

Barbee wouldn't offer details about any talks. "There were several ideas that have been floated, and there was some interest, but we'll have to see," she said. "It wasn't something that could be sewn up before we were going to air the finale. ... It would have been better had we been able to announce one with the other, but it just didn't happen that fast."

Barbee said that she and the show's cast and crew got official word of the show's cancellation at the end of last week, in time to choose one of two endings for the season finale: A cliffhanger or a series ender. "We were told that they were having a meeting on Thursday, ... internally at CBS, to decide which of the endings to show for this Tuesday night's finale, and then we were given the heads up after that meeting that they were going to show the alternate , which obviously to us meant that we were going to finish our run on CBS," Barbee said. Barbee asked CBS to delay its formal announcement for 24 hours so she could inform the cast and crew; the news broke on Friday.

If Jericho is not picked up for another season by a TV network, Barbee said that she could envision it living on in some other form. "There's definitely an Internet series to be had, and we always talked about a graphic novel, and ... a movie," Barbee said. "I mean, there are lots of things that I could easily see as a way to continue the story."

But time may be running out. Jericho wrapped its second season of episodes back in November, just as the writers' strike was beginning. Since then, the cast and crew have been freed to pursue other projects, and the show's sets and backlot have been dismantled and either destroyed or put into storage. Barbee herself has moved on to another series, Swingtown, created by Jericho alumnus Mike Kelley, about the lives of couples experimenting with sexual and social mores in a 1970s Chicago suburb, which will air on CBS this summer and is shooting on the same stages once occupied by Jericho.

Looking back on Jericho, Barbee was pleased that it attracted a core of die-hard fans who were responsible for getting CBS to resurrect the show for a second season. "We appreciated the second life that we had, and we feel like we've made the most of it, and we will just be forever indebted to the fans for taking us on this amazing ride," she said. "I think it will always be a highlight in our careers, that we got to be a part of that." Jericho's finale, "Patriots and Tyrants," airs March 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

6. I would love to see new episodes...
there is certainly room for the plot to continue - especially if Sci Fi picked it up - maybe they can find a way to bankroll another season.

7. That would be good.
The last time I really liked a CBS show was American Gothic and they did the same kind of thing then. There were rumors about it being picked up by another station but it never happened. I am not as crazy about Jericho as I was AG but still, it is interesting and I like the characters. It is a good story and fun to wonder just how much they really can get away with.....I guess we just found out.

9. I just recently began watching.
I just rented the first season and concluded it. Tonight will be the first time I will see a
an episode from this season. I am so disappointed to see it is ending. Is there a fan site that we can use to get an email campaign going to keep it on?

14. Hey, I found this post on another board where the show was being discussed:
the plan to save jericho is in effect

Effort #3: Contacting and Convincing Potential Networks
This would be the information you most likely have been waiting for. After speaking to one of our JerichoNet representatives who took the initiative to reach out and contact representatives of the show out of the public spotlight. The information that has been obtained, while verbal, is from a reliable source to Carol Barbee.

This information will provide us with a solid direction in which to proceed. It seems that two networks are in the running as of the present, and contrary to what was already aired, and stated, they are being shopped around on.

The two networks so far are: Sci Fi Channel and the CW.

So what do we do?

We now write letters to them, call them if we can, and even send emails if possible to encourage both these networks of the fan interest, and our interest in either of their networks picking up this fantastic show. Threads will be upcoming momentarily with information, examples and a general direction in which to go.

Thank you all for your patience, and remember, several of us are presently working as hard as we can to verify solid directions for us to go in as a team, and to obtain reliable information.

DO NOT email SciFi, they want SNAIL MAIL only...... Per their request

This is the exact reason why everyone was being asked to wait.

Presently, Sci-Fi has the broadcasting rights for Jericho, and have the open rights and first dibs on picking it up as a continuing series, since they already own those broadcasting syndication rights.

Sci-Fi seemed like a fit for many reasons yet we were being told earlier that they had their own "Jericho like show" in production and would probably not be interested.

With the Holiday weekend, it was difficult to get confirmations or denials on this. We are being told that Sci-Fi is definitly still in the running.

Jericho's numbers compete with their top rated show and I am gathering the information now to post it.

Tonight, we will be posting an open appeal letter to Sci-Fi stating the reasons why Jericho would be a good fit, stay tuned.

and a worthy end to the series. I would have loved to have seen it get a full run for a few more seasons so they didn't have to rush the story, but I'm glad they got the chance to come back to shoot these episodes.

Watching tonight's episode, I was wondering how they can get away with some of the subtext and dialog that speaks directly to current events. I guess it's under the radar as science fiction and they don't think anyone is watching.

I didn't start watching until half-way through the first season, then I went back and watched all the episodes to get caught up and I was hooked. Definitely recommended.

I think all the episodes are available online:

12. It was not cancelled
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 05:39 AM by Aya Reiko
The second season of the series completed its run. However, its ratings have not been as good this year when compared to last year. CBS has already stated it will not renew it for a third season, so the show's producers are already shopping it around to other networks.

Side note: Two versions of the ending of today's episode were filmed, one with a cliffhanger and a more conclusive ending. The latter was the one that aired.
