1. we might want to get it up to around 65 or so....
too many spineless lobbyist-monied members hanging around for those 'close' votes...

2. If the next president wants to end the Iraq war, then it will end.
On this issue, the number of votes we have in the Senate is not that important. If we have a Democratic president, the Democrats in the Senate will follow the president's lead on Iraq.

If McCain is the next president, then the number of Democratic Senators becomes more important. It would certainly help if we had 61 Dems, but sadly, I don't think there are any guarantees if McCain is the next president.
