BREAKING: Condi Rice Flirts With VP Possibility -- Speaks to Grover Norquist's Wednesday Group Meeting

Wednesday, Mar 26 2008, 10:07AM

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is speaking this morning to Grover Norquist's weekly powerhouse gathering at Americans for Tax Reform of conservative associations, think tanks, and political operations.

At the semi-secret gatherings which Republican political hopefuls migrate to to get the blessing of not only Norquist but the diverse parts of the nation's conservative money and political machinery, Norquist gives everyone in the room 3 minutes to pitch their cause or issue. I have attended before, but if one wants to attend again -- no one may write or speak about the internal discussion or who attended.

In this case, however, I am not attending -- but a source other than Norquist has leaked this information to The Washington Note and Huffington Post.

As one major Republican operative told me yesterday:

Someone like Condi Rice doesn't go to Grover Norquist's den to talk about the Annapolis Middle East peace process. She's going to secure her future in Republican politics and to position herself as a 'potential' VP candidate on the McCain ticket.
Grover Norquist is author of the new book, Leave Us Alone: Getting the Government's Hands Off Our Money, Our Guns, Our Lives. It would be interesting to know which pages of the book Condi has dog-eared.

14. I was just thinking the same thing --
The only reason I'd really like to see Joe as VP would be to obliterate the Rep's VP nom during debates. I'd get an exceptional amount of pleasure from it if that happened to be Condi.

6. Bull effing CRAP! Black folks have never supported a candidate just because he or she is black.
Remember Alan Keyes ran against Obama in Illinois. We are not stupid.

9. No, it won't, and anyway, it will never happen. Condi is pro-choice.
The GOP will NEVER put someone pro-choice on the ticket. NEVER.

17. I doubt it
Contrary to popular belief African American's do not vote strictly on race, but we consider the positions of candidates just like non-whites.

4. That is my greatest hope. Anyone from chimpy's War Crimes Cabinet
will ensure a Democratic White House.

I seriously doubt she will be on the ticket. I can hope, though.

7. Can you imagine the racist right if the Puke ticket is John "Amnesty" McCain and....
Condi "I need another pair of shoes" Rice.

I could make a fortune selling Tums to them.

8. Is this one of the people who thought Rudy would be a "front runner"? Let me make this clear:
NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

NEVER.

NEVER.

Not because Condi's black, not because Condi's a woman.

but because Condi, like Guiliani, is PRO-CHOICE.

Norquist Shmorquist; the people who really run the GOP are the Flat-Earthers, the Jesus-rode-dinosaurs Fundy Loonies, the folks who want to outlaw the birth control pill and non-procreative fucking.

No one who is pro-choice is getting within 100 light years of the GOP Presidential Ticket. Mark my words.

11. Never ever ever ever happen
She has about the greatest culpability imaginable for 9/11. (Negligence wise)

She will never want to be in a public forum where the public or the press get to ask her about the July 7th 2001 Cofer Black/ George Tenent meeting where they tried to put her and the country on red alert concerning Al Qaida which she pretty much ignored.

She got on a plane the day that meeting was revealed and she pretty much hasn't come off of it since. Have you ever seen a Secreatry of State with so LITTLE coverage? Think about it.

20. Commish of NFL -- Sure
VP - No way.

She's not a campaigner...no kissing babies, eating local food, and glad-handing gal she. Does she give anybody the warm fuzzies (always excepting her 'husband')? Besides, you can't wear Ferragamos walking through the Iowa State Fair. She'd never take a job that required getting her shoes mussed.
