Why Giuliani Will Never Be President ------>>>
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 01:14 AM by Stephanie

Because Rudy has TERRIBLE JUDGMENT.

Just like locating his emergency command center at the WTC and stocking it with huge explosive diesel tanks and having no backup center in case it was destroyed at its site right next to the biggest target in the world, was stupid. Just like announcing in a press conference on the steps of St. Patrick's Cathedral that he was leaving his wife for his mistress before he even told his wife, who heard about it on tv, and they had two young children, was stupid.

This was another bad decision >>>

Then again, considering the INCREDIBLY poor quality of republican candidates, Rudy is lookin good for the fascists now...

7. I hope I'm wrong, but I think they're looking to Brownback!
Rudy's a heck of a talker, and quite convincing, but I really don't think he'll ever the fundies, even by promising to nominate judges like Scalia! I don't think they'll ever trust him. I don't think Romney is looking too good, even though the Bushies seem to be supporting HIM.

To be honest, I'm not sure which Pub candidate I should hope they nominate. Certainly I want one that will be easy to defeat, but I'm always scared that some dirty work just could put the sucker in the Presidency! Right now, I think I could sorta live with Hagel, but that's the only one! BTW, it sure looks like McCain's candidacy is dead!

4. the diesel is a red herring
um, you cant explode diesel outside an engine, that's why its used for generators all over, its the most stable fuel you can have in liquid form. Almost every skyscraper has several generators with 100-1000g diesel tanks. You could throw a lit cigarette into a pool of diesel and it probably wouldn't do anything but get snuffed out..

But putting the ONLY command center there was a stroke of stupidity, along with the drag costume and every thing else he did..

9. Rudy is really a good sport....he did all sorts of bits on Letterman when
he was mayor, and he appeared on Saturday Night Live a number of times and was hilarious.

Is this the best you can do to articulate he would be a horrible president? (which he would.)

Your mockery is offensive to many in the GLBT community, with an emphasis on the "T"

45. Well if you want to go that direction then drag itself is an insult to women.
The purpose of drag is to ridicule women. But I'm not talking about his costume, I'm talking about his act. What if Hillary did a sketch with Donald Trump's nose in her cleavage? How would that go over?

I've seen the video but who in the Republicon party is interested in watching it? Isn't this about tearing Rudy down as a Presidential candidate?
Rudy dresses in drag. He has gay friends. He supports gay rights. And so on... So, I guess I do see this as a GLBT issue on some level. Rudy must be a bad man because he's in drag. Only fags do that. Rudy is a fag.

Ick.

50. Some Republicans will -- though probably not the Republican candidates
Rudy's intraparty opponents will want the clip out there. On the other hand, you're right that they won't want to be seen as broadcasting it, because then they'll be criticized for negative campaigning and ignoring the real issues that the American people care about (like flag burning).

So, how will supporters of McCain, Romney, Brownback, Hunter, et al. reconcile this problem? It's pretty simple in the age of the 527. Some fat cats who don't like Rudy's liberalism on social issues will pony up the dough. (Someone can ask Sam Fox to help out, and there's a $50k start right off the bat.) Then the clip gets widely broadcast while all the other candidates piously distance themselves from this negativity.

Incidentally, over on Free Republic, the Giuliani issue seems to have supplanted immigration as the hot topic. Some of the Freeptards simply chant "abortion-gays-guns" whenever Giuliani's name is mentioned, and swear they won't vote for him. Others support Giuliani on the basis that the really important issue is stopping terrorism (at which he is presumed to be a master) or that the really important issue is stopping Hillary (who is presumed to be the Democratic nominee and who is hated with a ferocity that cannot be described).

32. True, that.
Rudy forgot that what's good for Monty Python is terrible for Presidential politics. That this 'farce' will get used against him in some anti-gay manipulation of public opinion kinda sucks. Obviously, he's not my candidate but as for gay rights -- he's as good, if not better, than most.

I feel compelled to point out this sort of "ick factor" manipulation not only on our side but their's as well. Am I wrong in thinking that anti-gay sentiment is being exploited in order to destroy Rudy?

Nice to see you too, neighbor. I'm still so proud of you for all you did in 2005 here at DU! :hi:

could be exploited, couldn't it? (Richardson who shut down a recount of Native American and Latino votes in 2004 for purposes only known to his dirty self.)

This is one dirty kitchen and I agree that we need to be mindful of ourselves. It's tempting to play the wingnuts like a violin but that just takes ya to the hateful place where they live.

Giuliani was mayor and should have done immediate crime scene investigation.. As Webster Tarpley noted, "Guiliani has not had a word to say about this in his memoirs. The city accepted rock-bottom prices for the steel; the priority was to make it disappear fast."

"The steel was transported quickly to China, ending any opportunity to run any tests in connection with ascertaining how the 9/11 explosions may have occurred".

the M$M have already annointed him.

the narratived has been set

they will brook NO swiftboating of America's mayor.

any stories/pictures/clips like the above will either be shown for one news cycle, if that

think back about what they did with Bush's myriad skeletons. they kept them buried deep in the closet for TWO election cycles.

with the patina of his 'heroic' post 911 leadership still being burnished, the media have pretty much fallen in lockstep with their coverage.

contrast that with what they're done to Gore in just the last few days. sound familiar?
