what things do you do in your daily life to ensure the hegemony of the "speculative" class?
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 05:52 AM by datasuspect
in other words, the truly, (qualifer string on edit) marvelously, obscenely, top tier, ownership class wealthy, those people who (qualifiers on edit) primarily or SOLELY live off capital gains, interest, and financial speculation?

what things do you do wittingly or unwittingly, or through lack of action, to ensure our owners live in comfort while we struggle?

doing nothing is all they can ask for.

1. I read and watch the mainstream news every day. This keeps me appropriately demoralized.

2. Aren't you assuming that all people who live off interest and capital
gains are wealthy? Many are retired and supplement their meager social security with some capital gains and interest incomes which by the way also means paying taxes on such.

7. But,
you also ask wht we are doing to insure or not insure they continue to live in comfort without acknowledging that not all live in comfort when living on interest or gains. How can I do anything to make sure that the very rich do not continue to live in comfort with their interst incomes without also punishing the one who do not?

9. the people you are describing are not in the same class as the people i am describing
retirees are not heavily leveraged in volatile investment vehicles, nor can they expose themselves to the same risk (and potential reward) that a truly wealthy person can expose themselves to.

it seems like you are trying to deny there is an ultra wealthy class of people who control most of the finances on this planet.

the basic retiree you describe is the victim of the same markets that a wealthy person can leverage in the long term during economic crisis.

11. I don't deny it, I just think it would be hard to punish one without also
punishing the other ie in taxes

I started buying mutual funds in 1993. I was able to invest a lot because I have professional training and that I don't waste a lot of money.

8. Drink Budweiser
Sure, I could buy the local micro brew but honestly, I like the taste of Bud, even though every penny I spend on it goes to a giant corporation.
