1. Could go either way, but probably "remember cheney's 'so' and vote for someone who cares"
But it could also say "look at me, I'm an asshole 'cause I think Cheney is funny. yuk yuk." What's your take?

Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 04:31 PM by Redstone
that comes to mind in one of my threads, just to try to piss me off.

But you know what I learned a long time ago? That the best ways to frustrate someone who's trying to pick a fight with you, is to refuse to give them one.

Works every time.

21. Yup,
I created an accidental firestorm over marriage in GLBT and some people there wanted a pound of my flesh. I just let it die. It was and is an unwinnable argument, anyway.

30. A quick Olive Garden recommendation... create my storm. That was before I learned to walk away...
Oh, there have been others, but I'm too disgusted to enumerate them.

However, the topics do seem to repeat themselves -- the target is a racist, or a cult member, or not properly educated or sensitive in the "norms" of other cultures, etc.

36. You may not believe this, but it's true: DU forums have had angry meltdowns
over such seemingly-uncontroversial subjects as The Olive Garden.

And, I kid you not, fried chicken.

It really has happened.

edited to add: Sorry, I didn't look at your profile first. Shuffling feet and apologizing, if you like Texas. I really should have looked at your profile first. My bad.

26. I was in Texas from 1983 to two years ago
I don't care to add that up. It's a really, really, really long time. I think I paid for all of my crimes and those of many of my family members in that, um, purgatory. Anyway, I spent six years shuttling back and forth between Texas and here, before finally getting it together to move her.

Come on up, anytime love. I'll be happy to extend Texas hospitality to a fellow exile.

28. Yep, I was never, ever a Texan, just trapped there by circumstance
some of my own making, some not. My now ex-hubby (amicable) is still in Texas, though he and his current wife dream of Seattle. Honestly, I'm not sure he'll ever leave, poor guy. At least he lives in Austin now, that is the only thing that made my last six years there tolerable.

That had nothing to do with it and I was still in Texas a decade after we split up. No, you need to drag hubby et al., up here many times until they get the bug.

10. I have the greatest t-shirt from you
This is too cryptic, though. To the wonks, it is clearly a blanket condemnation of the party that spawned one of the most evil people on this earth, but the people who watch Dancing With the Stars will likely see it as a statement on apathy with the political choices in 2008. Too bad, because it is incredibly biting and apropos.

Is that correct? If only his comment had been played over and over and over like Rev. Wrights comments - So? would have been seared into the public mind and there would be no question about what this is about. Too, too bad.

:sarcasm:

BTW, that guy didn't say anything that wasn't true or nearly as outrageously repugnant as Fred Phelps or Pat Robertson.

Yes, I came up with this  I just thought I'd run it by everyone.

I just think this time around, you aimed too high (an easy mistake to make, what with Obama treating us like adults and all. It's contagious to think that the average person might, you know, think) and the average person sadly won't get it. They should, Goddess knows, but if they did, we wouldn't have such a monumental problem.
