Parents Pick Prayer Over Docs; Girl Dies
By ROBERT IMRIE

WESTON, Wis. (AP) — Police are investigating an 11-year-old girl's death from an undiagnosed, treatable form of diabetes after her parents chose to pray for her rather than take her to a doctor.

An autopsy showed Madeline Neumann died Sunday from diabetic ketoacidosis, a condition that left too little insulin in her body, Everest Metro Police Chief Dan Vergin said.

She had probably been ill for about a month, suffering symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, loss of appetite and weakness, the chief said Wednesday, noting that he expects to complete the investigation by Friday and forward the results to the district attorney.

The girl's mother, Leilani Neumann, said the family believes in the Bible and that healing comes from God, but she said they do not belong to an organized religion or faith, are not fanatics and have nothing against doctors.

1. They are not fanatics, they claim.
They're an unbiased source for that judgment, I'm sure. :sarcasm:

2. Let's see if god will provide a good lawyer.
No excuse for this. Put them in jail and never let them see the light of day.

3. Prosecute, Prosecute, Prosecute!!!!
For child neglect and homocide. Child paid the ultimate price for parental idiocy. Locke them up and throw away the key.

4. Please tell me they have no other children...
I honestly think this is a form (a sick sick form but a form none-the-less) of survival of the (mentally) fittest. These people should never have had kids.

5. God answers all prayers.
Unfortunately for the petitioners, the answer is usually NO.

6. Let's see, they're churchgoers who presumably go to doctors
for themselves and they sat and watched their daughter go through hell on earth before she died and want us to believe they were PRAYING her well?

Good luck on getting any jury to buy that.

They can, of course, pray themselves out of prison. I'm sure the bible will arrange teleportation.

9. This is murder one, aggrivated

Premeditated (they watched for weeks!), and calmly carried out.

Here is more from the article:

Her mother, Leilani Neumann, tells The Associated Press
her daughter's condition worsened suddenly, and the parents
stayed in prayer, believing she would recover.

She also says she's not concerned about a police
investigation, because she and her husband believe their
lives are in God's hands and they did nothing criminal, only
tried to do the best they could for their daughter.

Everest Metro Police Chief Dan Vergin says an autopsy
showed the girl died from a type of diabetes that left her with
too little insulin in her body. He says she had probably been
ill for about 30 days.

ONLY TRIED TO DO THE BEST FOR THEIR DAUGHTER???

I think the best thing to do for the memory of their poor
daughter is to toss these sick perverts in jail for the rest of
their lives for first degree murder. I don't care what they say
they believed. God didn't appear from on high to tell them not
to seek medical care that could have prevented her death.
They thought that one up all on their own. If no one accepts
that Allah appeared to Osama bin Laden and told him to
crash airliners into America, then it's a safe bet that Jesus
didn't appear to these nut cases and tell them to watch their
daughter die a slow death, either. I just wish someone would
infect them with some horrible disease, Ebola virus or
something, that causes a horrible death, and let them writhe
in pain with no treatment until they suffer the same fate as
their defenseless daughter. I'm not usually the vindictive sort,
but this kind of thing makes my blood boil, maybe because I
have daughters of my own, and would (and have) done
anything to get them treated when they had a medical issue.
Luckily for us, they have not had anything life-threatening like
this girl had. But I have NO compassion or mercy for people
who do this to children, especially their own.

I am sure that God would tell them to get medical attention if they were the ones suffering.

of god is protected.

If this doesnt cry out for the death penelty, what does?

But, they'll walk, I'll bet 20 bucks on it.
