The Natural
As we ponder the Obama presidency, thoughts naturally turn to major appointments – Vice President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defence – jobs that will require personnel who have the appropriate experience and expertise to fulfill the overwhelming responsibilities that each office represents.

At this tenuous juncture in our relationship with Iraq and its people, surely we recognize that one of the most important positions to be filled with be that of US Ambassador to that war-torn nation – and what more natural choice could there be but our own George W. Bush.

Who else has a better understanding of the needs of this fledgling democracy than the The Great Liberator himself, a man who has devoted thousands of soundbytes, hundreds of photo-ops, and billions of US taxpayers’ dollars to the “Noble Cause”?

One can only imagine the sweets ‘n’ flowers greetings at the airport, as Ambassador W sets down on the tarmac, able and willing to start his new life among those whom he has “freed” from tyranny.

After a brief but moving ceremony – some “harmless hazing” of George involved, just for fun! – at Abu Ghraib, Ambassador Bush will be whisked away to his new home, the US Embassy in Bagdhad, a billion-dollar fixer-upper that will be made ship-shape in no time, just as soon as he finds the billions of taxpayers’ dollars that went missing on his watch.

No doubt Laura and the girls will enjoy living under the oppressive conditions that Iraqi women now face, while Grandma Babs delights TV audiences here at home with quotes about how “they’re really better off now”, and things are “working out” for them just fine.

As President Obama starts pulling US troops out of the country, George will be free to really get out there and mingle with the locals – maybe buy a $5 rug at the local marketplace of a Saturday afternoon which is now, thanks to him, as safe as strolling through a state fair in middle America.

Given the incredible responsibilities that Ambassador W will face, selecting the right staff to accompany him will be paramount to this mission being accomplished. But having so many Iraq experts to choose from – Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al – the task will undoubtedly prove no more difficult than clearing brush.

Once settled in, Ambassador W can extend invitations to his pals Kristol, Perle and Wolfowitz for lengthy visits. Surely they will want to get a firsthand look at the fruits of the their labors in having encouraged the liberation of the Iraqi people – just as the Iraqis would no doubt enjoy the opportunity to get up close and personal with the architects of their current freedom.

Of course, there is the added bonus that while they’re all there, they can keep a much closer eye on Iran – and maybe even finally find those WMDs.

It’s a win-win situation for everyone.

1. Brilliant!!
Nance and maybe we could have camera's in the faulty Embassy like Big Brother. Now that would be show worth watching...."I don't like reality shows".

what could we call the show, "Big Brother and the "W"s"?

3. I Like the Idea of a Reality Show.
We could call it the Baghdad hillbillies.
I can just hear the theme song now.
"Listen to a story of a man named bush
who couldn't find oil is Texas if it shot up his tush..."

17. But then one day he's a-looking at a book
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 04:12 AM by Art_from_Ark
While towers are being hit
But they let him off the hook

Goat book, that is
Second grade, reading class

Next thing you know, ol' bu$h is riding high
The 'Murkins shout "Hey! He's our kind of guy!
He's gonna get that villain who launched that bad attack
An Evil-doer named Saddam, who's a-sittin' in Eye-rack"

Sittin' on oil, that is
Black gold, Texas tea

20. This was already done in 2006
That time, it was about JEB:

The Kennebunk Bushbillies

Come listen to my story bout a man named Jeb,
The Governor of Florida, a good ol’ Johnny Reb.
But then brother George got the country in a funk,
So he went to talk to Daddy in the town of Kennebunk…

(…Port, that is---fancy yachts, lobster tails)

Well the first thing you know, ol’ Jeb ain’t gonna run
The kinfolk said, “George isn’t having fun!”
He said “Tallahassee is the place I oughtta be,
“You can have your Potomac, I’ll be staying by the sea!”

(“Caribbeen,” that is—fancy digs, hurricanes)

THE KENNEBUNK BUSHBILLIES!

(fast banjo break)

Now, we’ve SEEN the misadVENtures of poor Jebbie’s family
Some MISsions not acCOMplished, social INsecurity
But THERE’S a GENeration more of BUSHes in the pot
So COME back here in TWENty years when THESE boys are forgot!

(We’re buying up Diebold stock, so y’all come back now, ya hear?)

13. How do you know he won't screw THAT up?
Sorry, Ms. Greggs, but whimsy aside, look at his record. He's fumbled every job he's ever had. I'm not ever certain that he concieved his own daughters; I leave it to you whether he outsourced that job, or managed something with a turkey baster. I am convinced that if he was put in charge of delivering papers in Des Moines, there would soon be a smoking hole where Iowa used to be, and the cost of corn would triple.

It's better to make him a sampler of whiskies, the only job he has carried out without problems.

18. I have one small change to suggest....
It should be only a short-term appointment. Ambassadors traditionally don't take an active role in politics, and we want W back in the States to campaign for Republican candidates in the 2010 election.

Democrats in close races would never forgive President Obama if he kept Bush out of their districts.

21. Send Ambassador Bush out into that market where McCain wore the bullet-proof vest
Bush won't need one. Those bullets cost money, and no self-respecting
Iraqi would want to waste one in such a fashion..........

30. If the Iraqis reject him as
the U.S. Ambassador, he could get assigned to Remulak. He should be made to go to Iraq and beg for mercy.
He owes the world, especially the Iraqis an apology, and like Coleridge's Ancient Mariner, he should stop every third person and explain what an asshole he's been.
