A former Steuben county pastor accused of sex crimes with minors, plead guilty Monday to all charges. Authorities say David Troup had sexual contact with three boys in 2005 and 2006. The sex acts took place at the Borden Baptist church in the Town of Woodhull, where he served as pastor.
Police say the children were all younger than 13. Troup was arrested in October after one of the kids came forward and told their parents what happened. Because Troup plead guilty to all counts, District Attorney John Tunney says the sentencing is now up to the judge. “That's what this is all about,” said Tunney. “It’s an effort to convince the judge that a sentence on the lower end of possible sentencing is what should be imposed.”
Tunney says at least two of the boys Troup admitted to having sexual contact with are receiving counseling. Troup is out on bail until his sentencing in May. He faces five to 32 years in prison for his crimes. Click on video and go to “Pastor Pleads Guilty” to see how Troup avoided our cameras and apologized for his actions.
