BREAKING: 10 Year Old Girl with Brain Cancer who wanted to see imprisioned father: Dies

This little girl was finally able to see her father yesterday. Thousands of letters poured in, and they finally relented and let this man see his daughter yesterday, and she just passed away. I'm glad that she was finally able to get her wish. What a sad story. :(

7. Thanks.. for some reason the local news just sent an alert
that said it was breaking at 9:10am. I guess they're a bit behind?? ;)

2. Aw. I guess she felt satisfied that she had seen him, and could let go. Very sad--
and surprisingly inhumane that it took so much effort to allow the visit. The guy wasn't a violent offender.

3. But what a wonderful thing
that there was an outpouring of letters and calls that made it possible for her to see her daddy one more time. It shows that when people feel strongly and take action, it is possible sometimes to make a huge difference.

I get extremely frustrated that we can't stop the war or impeach the Predator in Chief even though so many of us want these things and have been writing letters, making calls, sending emails, donating money and marching in protests for years.

So it is heartening to know that in some instances like this, people can effect change.

Rest in peace, little girl, in a better place without pain and sickness.

5. Here's what I found the saddest part
They only allowed the man to visit his daughter after it was obvious
to them that they were risking a public relations disaster. Had it not
been for that, the girl would have died without ever having seen her
father again. This was not an act of mercy, but an act of political
expediency. How crass is that?

6. No--this story has a HAPPY ending

A dying girl's final wish came true--and it came true because of US. I say that's something to feel good about.

Jayci Yaeger's imprisoned father, Jason, went to her bedside Wednesday -- a visit federal authorities allowed only after being deluged with letters and phone calls from across the nation.

On Wednesday afternoon, prison guards drove Jason Yaeger to a Lincoln hospice, where he spent several hours at her bedside. No one else was allowed in the room except Jason Yaeger, Jayci and the escorts.

...(T)he prison warden had allowed Jason Yaeger three visits to his daughter, but had denied requests for a longer furlough or an early transfer to a halfway house...The warden told Yaeger it was not viewed as an extraordinary circumstance.

I didn't have a problem with THEIR having a problem with an extended furlough. But letting him out for just half a day so he could spend a couple of hours with her was also asking too much? If being ten years old, in a hospice, and having less than two weeks to live aren't "extraordinary circumstances," what ARE???

To Jacyi, rest in peace. And to those of us who made her resting in peace possible, well done.

:)
