Are You Man Enough To Give Birth?

I just love this brave new world of ours. Thomas Beatie of Oregon is legally a man and is legally married to Nancy. They live a quiet life like oh so many other couples. Except for one thing.

Thomas's beer gut is actually a growing baby. Bearded, butch Thomas is pregnant. He is a transgender man who is legally a man, but retained his ability to make a baby. Nancy lost her ability to carry a child to term; so when the couple decided to have a child, Dad was the only one available.

Update: MSM hairdos seem somewhat skeptical of this story's authenticity; however, they all report that it is entirely biologically possible. Frankly, this is the coolest news since I don't know when. Here's hoping all goes well for this happy couple! Meanwhile, wingnuts, who've yet to weigh in on this joyous event, are still spewing hateful crap based on their personally twisted idea of moral superiority...

How To Respond To A Liar

Petraeus: Iran Is Behind Green Zone Attacks. Hi, This Is Me Not Believing You.

Its like the credibility of our government is suspect or something.
The most senior US general in Iraq has said he has evidence that Iran was behind Sunday's bombardment of Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone.
Gen David Petraeus told the BBC he thought Tehran had trained, equipped and funded insurgents who fired the barrage of mortars and rockets.
He said Iran was adding what he described as "lethal accelerants" to a very combustible mix.
There has as yet been no response from Iran to the accusations.
In similarly credible news, I'm totally Jessica Alba's baby daddy.

Red State Party Woes

Too bad. So sad. The Carpetbagger Report notes sans sadness that "McCain shouldn't count on too much support from state GOP committees." The best part:

Saul Anuzis, chairman of the Michigan Republican Party was surprisingly candid about the state of affairs for state affiliates: "After 12 years of being in power, you tend to get fat and lazy, and in some cases arrogant with respect to your positions. There is no doubt that we have had people who have gotten caught up in both illegal activities and immoral activities and none of that helps the party as a whole. If you go back to 2006 most people would agree that not only did we lose our brand, that we damaged our brand significantly. We are clearly rebuilding."

Wow! Love those descriptors: fat; lazy; arrogant; illegal; immoral; and, damaged. And that's theRepublican description of the status quo? Tee hee. And some Republican power players have simply walked away...

The Huffington Post reports that Fred Thompson (R-Trounced) has signed with The William Morris Agency and plans to resume his acting career.

Godzilla posts Mike Huckabee's video reaction to Barack Obama's minister, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and it's... um, seriously warped, even for Huckabee.

We Got Game

I don't know about you, kids, but I am sick of politics. When I want to get away from it all, I like to watch game shows. There are a few still on the air today, and even a couple of brand news ones. For example, Amnesia, hosted by that little war-loving Chimpy-kissing turd Dennis Miller. The show quizzes contestants on memories from their own lives for money and prizes.


That particular episode hasn't aired yet, but I have heard that Gonzo Alberto Gonazles doesn't do very well.

Among the other game shows featured is this gem: Wheel Of Fortune, with Dick, Chimpy and Scooter (Can you solve the puzzle?


Seriously, what do you do with all of the has-been Republicans? Got any ideas?

In an upcoming book, Heraldo Muñoz, Chile's ambassador to the United Nations, writes the efforts by the Bush administration to cajole other countries into supporting the invasion of Iraq "generated lasting 'bitterness' and 'deep mistrust' in Washington's relations with allies in Europe, Latin America and elsewhere." Muñoz describes how the "rough-and-tumble diplomatic strategy" employed by the Bush administration to pressure allies for support included threats and punishment...

Scientist/Blogger Banned From Film Premiere

From Pharyngula comes the tale of a man expelled from "Expelled" (the wingnut creationist film premiere), even though the expelled man is featured in the film, "Expelled":

I went to attend a screening of the creationist propaganda movie, Expelled, a few minutes ago. Well, I tried ... but I was Expelled! It was kind of weird - I was standing in line, hadn't even gotten to the point where I had to sign in and show ID, and a policeman pulled me out of line and told me I could not go in. I asked why, of course, and he said that a producer of the film had specifically instructed him that I was not to be allowed to attend.

Here's the hilarious part:

They singled me out and evicted me, but they didn't notice my guest. They let him go in escorted by my wife and daughter. I guess they didn't recognize him. My guest was ...

Richard Dawkins.

He's in the theater right now, watching their movie.

Tell me, are you laughing as hard as I am?

March 21, 2008

We are lucky enough to live in a country that allows us, its citizens, the freedom of speech. I have chosen to put up a statue of the Flying Spaghetti Monster to represent the discourse between people of all different beliefs. The many faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds of Cumberland County's residents make our community a stronger richer place. I respect and am proud that on the people's lawn, the county courthouse, all of these diverse beliefs can come together in a positive dialogue. Here, we are all able to share the issues close to our hearts whether it is through a memorial to the soldiers killed fighting for our country, the Statue of Liberty honoring our nations welcoming promise to all, a group's fight to stop homelessness, or powerful symbols of faith. I greatly treasure this open forum between everyone in the community.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a pile of noodles and meatballs, but it is meant to open up discussion and provoke thought. Being able to put up a statue is a celebration of our freedom as Americans; a freedom to be different, to express those differences, and to do it amongst neighbors - even if it is in a noodley way.

Something To Chew On This Weekend

Half Empty reports that building the SMU Bush Library will mean bulldozing some of the locals' favorite block:

The Bush people figured nobody would visit it if it were out in the country. Good point.


And therein lies the rub. SMU has no open acreage. The entire area is built up. Don't believe me? Here is a Google Earth shot of the campus. See that area in the lower right corner? That little strip next to the stadium? That area and the student housing behind it will be the future home of The George Dubya Bush Presidential Library.

Hey, maybe they'll put a Starbucks on the corner - should be a killer location.

Unfortunately, all of those shops in that strip mall have got to go. They're all built on university property anyway, so line up those bulldozers.

Student housing and choice retail property will go the way of the Dodo... and for what? Some coloring books and a used copy of The Pet Goat? Sad.

As most of you have noted, I haven't yet covered the Dem primary blog divide. What divides us all, in my opinion, is a matter of individual ballot-box preference... not at all divisive when it comes to November 4th. Even after we win the general election, we all know that it will still take a democratic underground to speak truth to power. Our work is far from over; in fact, a win in November will just signal the beginning. Let's work together against those tightie righties and stop quibbling over the small stuff.
