Stop Your Criticism!
Has anyone noticed this trend? This Talking point?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-6446518,00.html

``We have not seen Europe has been willing to help. We have seen many statements from European governments saying Guantanamo must be closed immediately. It's not clear how Guantanamo would be immediately closed. Europe has been prepared to criticize ... but has not been prepared to offer a constructive suggestion,'' Bellinger said.

<snip>

This is just one recent example. The "you can't criticize unless you have a solution" was big around the election with concerns torwards the Iraq war.

And that was the one that really pissed me off. Bush was in effect saying that if you could'nt solve the huge problem he created, then you had no place to bitch. (The ironic thing about this particular example, several democrats had offered suggestions.)

I'm sick to death of neocons governing with schoolyard logic. I'm sicker still of up to 30% of Americans buying it.

1. It's a good argument, just deceptive
It ignores the obvious fact that Democrats and Liberals have put forward plans forward - perhaps not as detailed as those developed by the Pentagon, but certainly as developed as "Let's put more people in Iraq and then stop being so politically correct!"

3. well - they would say that wouldn't they...
Whatever happened to, "If you've got nothing to hide then you've got nothing to worry about?"

That mantra seemed to be really popular a while back.

4. Why not? I don't owe them anything.
I can and will criticize their actions as well as the results of their actions. If they complain about my criticism, I will be happy to criticize that as well. They can cry, and I will mock them for that as well. These people are war criminals, they are lying thieving murderous scum. They do not deserve the slightest inch of slack. They have destroyed our country's good name. And now they are sensitive? Screw them.

5. I look at it this way: I can tell when a bridge is down but that doesn't mean I can build a bridge
i can criticize something without having to know how to do it. In fact, if it were up to me to come up with a solution, I would do what the NeoCons are NOT doing: I would seek advice from the experts and actually listen to them. Only a fool thinks he knows all and cannot take criticism.

6. ITA, they are always trying to shut everyone up because that is the
only way they can "win" the argument.

Somebody ought to say, "You created the problem and it's your responsibility to solve it." They're the ones so big on personal responsibility.

They can't even admit they were wrong and still go on as if the only way to fight terrorism is this war in Iraq, in spite of the obvious logical problems with that.
