Olbermann on Gore’s Energy Use: Setting the Record Straight
Sorry if this has been posted already...

Olbermann on Gore’s Energy Use: Setting the Record Straight
By: SilentPatriot @ 5:05 AM - PST
You knew after his big night at the Oscars Sunday, the far right would come out in full force against former Vice President Gore. Since these single-minded sensationalists never let those pesky "facts" get in the way, Keith breaks down the utility bill.

I have no problem with "think-tanks" scrutinizing Al Gore, but (a) for The Tennessee Center for Policy Research to call itself an independent and nonpartisan organization is laughable and (b) if they want to maintain that facade, try getting the full story at least.

(Nicole: Do you suppose that they are equally up in arms by the fact that taxpayers are paying Dick Cheney's electric bill at the Vice President's mansion? You know, the one that had an $186,000 electric bill in 2001? Nah, that probably doesn't bother them in the least.)

Breaking news from Will Bunch: Al Gore uses electricity…

8. When Are They Going to Talk Real Hypocricy
Let's even the playing field. Remember the Repukes who support the war? Let's list all of them who have sons/grandsons of military age who are not fighting this frigging war.

9. Not just the VP mansion
how about his Wyoming Ranch, who pays that and what is that expense.

Or what about the weed and the Crawford hideout - some call it a ranch, but word is, that is just movie props.

Just sayin' - glass houses and all that.

10. I think Olberman was spot on with what he said about the Cons targeting
Al Gore. They just can't help themselves from their obsessions! I wonder what lengths they went to in order to get their hands on his electric bill (if indeed it really is his electric bill and not a high-quality forged document). Did they pick through his trash? Did they pay big money to someone on the 'inside'? Or did someone who has access have enough hate for Gore and all Liberals in general that they took it upon him/herself to re-print a bill and bring it to this "non-partisan organization"?

Honestly, at what point do these people get held responsible for their Stalk a Liberal shenanigans?

11. I was on one board and someone claimed they were public records
I don't think utility bills are public records.

12. Probably in their universe they are
And if that person were challenged they'ld they would probably go with the "Al Gore is a public figure. He has no privacy protection under the law." But then they'll turn around and defend Laura Bush as having 'private citizen' status. :freak:

Seems to me they would only be public record if it were government property. As far as I know, it's a private residence.

13. this isn't from a wingnut blog
But the question -- as it always should be in politics -- is, is he doing all that he can now, and the answer appears to be yes. As Gore's electric bill (and yes, it's public record -- strange but true) shows, he and Tipper voluntarily pay the higher cost for something called Green Power Switch, which uses more expensive energy from renewable sources like wind and solar power. He purchases offsets for carbon fuel use.

16. Interesting!
I was wrong; thanks for keeping me on my toes. :)

A quick google and it looks like they've been after him for quite a while over this. They're taking anything with a tinge of 'hypocrite' on it and dismissing everything else just so they can say, "Once again, it's do as liberals say, but not as they do.
They're all a bunch of hypocrites."

18. I believe they they're the only ones allowed to be hypocrites
You can present facts to them and they won't listen. You can expose their lies and hypocrisy and they call you the liar.

19. They are public records
I've called the utility companies in the past to get an idea how much electricity/gas/water costs before I rented a house. One time I didn't rent a place becuse the water bill seemed too high. I passed but a friend of mine rented the place. Later I learned there was a broken water pipe and that was the cause of the high water bills.

one of the things he pointed out was that The Tennessee Center for Policy Research is both partisan and nonpartisan according to them. :spank: Colbert and Olbermann style. ;-) edited to add (don't mean that to be nasty. Oh my.)

20. KO's piece was much better than what CNN was saying
CNN's piece didn't directly challenge the stink tank TCPR's "facts" and it reiterated that they were "non-partisan" without actually checking into it.

Way to go KO!
