1. I voted for current location. Which lends exactly zero to any conclusions your poll
might have found.

11. zero conclusions?
You mean it doesn't conclude that you prefer to retire where you currently live? It doesn't conclude you prefer to stay close to friends and family? It doesn't conclude that you're happy with your current location?

Peace...

18. I wasn't trying to be a prick, I just thought "current location" could be Peoria or Peking
and so doesn't seem to contribute much to whatever it is you're trying to discern. But maybe I'm imagining things.
Or not. Who knows?
:D

28. I understand...
But I could have also just checked and see that your vote for current location equaled Roswell, New Mexico. :P

We have hiked most of it in spurts but want to due the entire hike, providing our health holds out which looks good right now. Cancer be damned! We're going anyway.

8. we moved here three years ago and plan to retire here. To which end we installed solar power
and built a greenhouse...
We have a small orchard, a big veggie garden, and a little flock of chickens.

We have 10 years til the mortgage is paid off, and that is when I can "retire" - more likely go to part time. Hubby can retire in 15 years.

13. I used to think that many people moved somewhere else when they retired
but then I read that very, very few of them move away from their home area, like less than 5%.

We wanted to move to Asheville, NC, a liberal bastion in the southeast but chickened out as we have no friends or family there. Still think about it every now and then although it is one of the states that taxes out of state pensions which is not good for retirees.

By the time I'm old enough to do it, the retirement age will have gone up to 80.

26. Me, neither...I like working; it provides structure to life
and gives you something to look forward to. If I suddenly became very wealthy and didn't need to work, I'd look for opportunities to volunteer at least 3 to 5 days a week.

32. Staying where we are
for now, at least. We've talked about moving to OR, AZ, and HI but our lives are here, our friends are here, our activities are here. IT would just take too long to start over someplace else.

Besides the thought of packing up this house gives me a panic attack. :scared:

It's flawed reasoning. I'm obviously still here.
