Siegelman Question.....inform one who knows little about this case..
Can someone either give a brief primer or point to a concise link about this issue?

I don't want to hear a partisan defense of this man, but an education in fact over why he was so wronged.

Thanks in advance.

3. Well....this is what I don't want...
I saw that 60 Minutes interview and the first thing I thought was I could not see Karl Rove going to the woman being interviewed. She is too dang strange.

5. Yeah. Too strange.
Right.
I've never known repugs to act 'strangely'.

9. What she reminded me of...
was some of the kooks that came forward during the Vince Foster suicide.

To me, her information and appearance was not compelling at all. And I was wondering if CBS gave her a bad wig to sort of hide her identity or something.

8. She's friends with the son of the current Republican governor.

What 60 Minutes doesn't explain is that (Dana Jill) Simpson is an old friend of Rob Riley, Jr., son of Gov. Bob Riley. Their friendship dates to their days in student government at the University of Alabama.

Simpson testified that she and Rob Riley had an informal arrangement: She would do oppo research and other political stuff for Jr.; and, in exchange, he would use his daddy's connections as a congressman, and later as governor, to secure favors for Simpson's clients.

Gov. Bob Riley succeeded Don Siegleman as governor of Alabama.

6. What is with all these Siegelman questions? Now?

First, unlike Scooter Libby, Siegelman was denied bail pending appeal.

Second, he could not appeal because Judge Fuller would not produce a trial transcript.

Third, Judge Fuller's defense contracting company received a 18.1 million dollar contract one month after the trial.

Fourth, 52 former US attorneys have petitioned Congress to look into this case.

Fifth, the goggles is your friend. There are numerous threads that discuss this case in depth.

7. Evidences increased awareness, for sure.
And, I rather like how some people trust DU brains over word searching :-)

Thanks, Admins, for the new search DU feature too.

10. Because...
he is all over the threads here at DU. I have not followed this particular story that well and wanted a re-cap of the evidence against him - if there was any at all.
