Russian intelligence sees U.S. military buildup on Iran border
Submitted by davidswanson on Sun, 2008-03-30 04:44.

MOSCOW, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian military intelligence services are reporting a flurry of activity by U.S. Armed Forces near Iran's borders, a high-ranking security source said Tuesday.

"The latest military intelligence data point to heightened U.S. military preparations for both an air and ground operation against Iran," the official said, adding that the Pentagon has probably not yet made a final decision as to when an attack will be launched.

He said the Pentagon is looking for a way to deliver a strike against Iran "that would enable the Americans to bring the country to its knees at minimal cost."

He also said the U.S. Naval presence in the Persian Gulf has for the first time in the past four years reached the level that existed shortly before the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

3. One More Dot ... On The Way To War With Iran.
Banality Of Evil; Connecting The Dots - Attacking Iran

The Vice President of the United States Of America, Mr. Richard Cheney visited countries in the region of the Middle East this past month. Among the announced countries he visited were Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.

Being an outsider, I am left to connect the dots. I feel free to speculate on some of the subjects Mr. Cheney may have discussed with leaders in the region of the Middle East.

It would not surprise me to learn that one subject Mr. Cheney discussed was the time table for an attack on the country of Iran. I have very little doubt that Mr. Cheney intends to and will give the go ahead to launch an attack before the end of Summer 2008.

When this happens, what options will the people of USA have?

15. No options, we only bitch about atrocities until they hit us directly!
We just cant seem to learn from the past or take the time to educate ourselves. Most likely we will sit by until the country is enslaved by poverty and under complete control and surveillance by our...no the lite and their government puppets.

First they came for the poor
and I did not speak out
because I was not poor.
Then they came for the middle class
and I did not speak out
because I was not middles class.
Then they came for the blacks
and I did not speak out
because I was not black.
Then they came for the women
and I did not speak out
because I was not a woman.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

8. The Russians also saw an Israeli military buildup on the Syrian border in 1967
which they reported to the Egyptians post-haste. In turn, the Egyptians stationed eight divisions on their border with Israel so as to take the pressure off their Syrian allies, and also closed the Strait of Tiran to compel Israel to withdraw its forces from the north. Israel regarded the former as a serious threat, and the latter as an act of war. The situation, um, did not end peacefully.

The only wrinkle in this story was that the supposed military buildup reported by the USSR did not exist. It was just a ploy concocted by the Soviet government to convince their Arab clients of the need to buy more weapons from the Soviet Union. In the end, the whole situation worked out poorly for the Soviets, as the Arab armies, equipped with Soviet weaponry and trained by Soviet advisers, we decimated.

If Russia's telling one of its weapons clients to look out for attack, what's to make us think that they're not just ramping up the sales pitch? Two can play at the military-industrial-complex game.

13. You know what, though?
In today's world, it's not surprising if it didn't come up in a search, or was very lightly reported, even if it was current and real....
