There is a reference to a March 31 deadline for fundraising. Does anybody know what this deadlie is all about?

The 2008 elections are about Democrats driving change forward, and Republicans trying to stifle it at every turn. With a critical March 31st deadline approaching, we have to make sure GOP money and mean-spiritedness don't block our path to progress.

Right now, that means taking on renegade GOP attack groups ready to drag our candidates down any way they can. Two high-profile organizations are at the center of the GOP's sinister strategy -- Coalition for a Conservative Majority, founded by Tom DeLay, and Freedom's Watch, headed by George Bush's former press secretary, Ari Fleischer.

In the presidential race and in critical House races, we've got to make sure we have the money we need to defend our candidates.

There's a lot of Democratic energy out there -- record turnouts, young voters fully engaged in the election, grassroots financial support unlike anything we've ever seen before.

The time is right, the energy is there, we just need to harness it. We cannot allow Republican smear groups to snatch another victory from the jaws of defeat by spreading fear and lies. We must be prepared to fight back.

Contributions gratefully received throughout the entire election cycle, and DCCC 1Q numbers won't affect future fundraising.

I would just call it a marketing trick-- a rather arbitrary deadline invoked in her appeal to prompt action.
