One Repub's take on their candidates
I was talking to a sweet little lady at work yesterday, who has told me that she always votes straight Repub. She's one of those anti-choice, anti-gay voters who thinks the Pukes can do no wrong. The subject came up in the context of a conversation I was having with someone else about Al Gore's possible candidacy.

So she starts in as to how the Republicans really don't have any candidates this time. I said, au contraire, you have Mitt Romney -- "who is he?" was her response. And Rudy Ghouliani. "Oh yeah, I know a little about him." Knowing what her "hot buttons" were, I asked her if she could vote for a Republican (Romney) who used to be pro-choice but is now "pro-life" (I used her term, not mine). "Why did he switch?" she asked. I replied, "Because he wants to be President." Oh no, that's not good enough; he has to be pro-life FOR REAL, not for politics, was her response. Well, then, could she vote for someone who historically favored gays rights (Ghouliani)? No, never. And she didn't even want to TALK about McCain, who had blasted the religious right back in the day.

She concluded that the Repubs really DON'T have anybody, and she guessed she'd just stay home.

My work here is done! One at a time ... one at a time!

3. I'd bet she would happily cast a vote for Brownback, Hagel,
or Gingrich. By the time the primaries roll around, she'll be all in a tizzy as an ABH or No Obama Mama volunteer. This is going to be one of those years that Cons will work harder than ever to get out the vote in a "We have to stop {fill in the blank)!" fashion.

5. She'll never vote Dem, but if she stays home that's just as good.
One less vote for a Puke.

Frankly, she's RIGHT - they don't have anybody who'll get through both the primaries and the general election!
