I am so glad my fellow medical professionals have grown a pair-Vytorin
After watching so many patients have to choose what medicines they buy,and handing out their whole office supply of samples,I'm glad that doctors are finally speaking out about the unethical practices of Pharma to make a buck.

A clinical trial of Zetia, a cholesterol-lowering drug prescribed to about 1 million people a week, failed to show that the drug has any medical benefits, Merck and Schering-Plough said on Monday.
-snip-
More than 100 million prescriptions have been filled in the United States for Zetia and Vytorin since the Food and Drug Administration approved them in November 2002 and August 2004 respectively. Both drugs cost about $3 a day.

2. I don't see how they had a choice.
If doctors KNOW it is ineffective at best, harmful at worst, they would be complicate in any med mal lawsuit for continuing to prescribe it.

5. Harm hasn't been proven to anything but a patient's wallet
and people who see targeted poisons advertised on teevee and go to the doctor and insist on them because they're too good for generics deserve a hit to the wallet.

This research showed that the combination drug was no better than the generic. It didn't show active harm.

Personally, I think allowing drug companies to advertise to people who aren't qualified to diagnose and treat themselves is the most unethical thing a GOP Congress has ever done to us.
