Tax Rebate Question
If you are currently making installment payments to the IRS, do you still get the new tax rebate? Or will they confiscate that against your debt, like they do any hope of a refund?

thanks

1. Its not a rebate
its a stimulus check. they are giving money to the people most apt to spend it ,so it will bump the economy.(too little too late if you ask me)
IF I understand correctly you should get one if you filed 2006 taxes and made more that 3,000.

2. If you are current on your installment payments...
then you should receive your stimulus check.

3. It depends..
on how they are doing the rebates this year. In 2001, I owed money to the IRS and was paying a monthly payment. When the "stimulus" checks were approved and distributed, those of us who owed had their balances reduced by the amount of the check. I did not receive a check, but it did help to reduce my tax liability.

4. From the IRS Newswire 3/17/08
IR-2008-044
"All or part of an economic stimulus payment may be applied
to back taxes or certain other debts of the taxpayer, such as
delinquent child support and student loans. In such cases,
the IRS will send a letter to the taxpayer explaining the
offset."
