Why do most of the radio and tv commercials have a blaring guitar in the background? What....
is so fascinating about CSI, CSI New York, CSI Miami, Coldcase, Medium.....? Can anyone answer these pressing questions?

10. Every commercial advertisement seems to have its own obnoxious jingle
Usually it's one of the most grotesque sounds I think they could possibly come up with. There's one commercial that just has the sound of a piano in the background pounding the same chord over and over. It seems like they are trying to get people's attention by being annoying.

about those. I was thinking about George Lakoff's Don't Think of an Elephantand his Strict Father vs. Nurturing Parent analogy. All these cop shows activate the Strict Father model in our minds. What does this say about us as a nation? Our media outlets encourage people to operate from that frame, whether intentional or not. That makes it harder to appeal to the Nurturing Parent model within people, and therefore harder to appeal to their progressive values.

Does that make sense?
